    Hey guys
Got a wr125 2001 (now a 165) on its last ride the kick-starter lever stopped returning after kicking it over

How hard it is to replace the spring in behind the case? Anyone got a few piccies of what I'm up against and is there anything to do while I'm in there?

    Cheers, Tim

Its really easy to pull out the starter assy. You will have to pull the clutch side cover and remove the clutch. It then can be removed and inspected/replaced. Good time to check your clutch plates and basket for wear. You should make sure you have a clutch cover gasket as it will be hard to remove the cover and keep the gasket in tact. Check the exploded parts catalogue for part numbers.

Hey bud finally got around to doing this today, clutch appears to be in great condition. Just wondering how loose the nylon gear that drives the water pump impeller should be on the impeller shaft?

    Cheers.

It should be tight on the shaft, think it's a left hand thread.

The impellers real tight, can't get it undone and don't want to damage it. I'm wondering about the drive gear behind the case it's nylon and mine has a bit of slop on shaft

Ok well the impeller is left hand thread so you may be tightening it up, the plastic drive gear is held in by a pin so will be slightly loose like a mill or so play.

It looks like the water pump impeller is a normal right hand thread.

Here's where you tell me it's a spline on the gear too

Haha, when engine is turned over impeller spins CCW which leads me to think it's a RH thread.
Gear is defiantly not on a spline otherwise I'm in deep trouble haha.

Yeah that makes sense it will be driving itself tight.
If you've got it loose pull it off and re loc-tite it on.
