Was messing around with editing some pix last night and did this one up of buddy Joe. Yeah it's a KTM but we will all live. thought it came out cool. Does not look real but dreamy.
The trail looks dreamy without the effects.....What happened to all the trees? Volcano (St. Helens), fire, or man?
man. The coast range here is largely a tree farm. they manage it well and seems to work good. They destroy trails and we build new ones This area is called "the burn" as it burned down a long time ago (started in 1933 with four consecutive fires. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tillamook_Burn Cool thing riding in this area some times you come across an OLD monster old growth stump that is HUGE. No trees like that here any more.
Sweet man! Makes me regret working today. 75 and sunny. Perfect Mt. View weather Is that one of the new ones on the west end of DM?
I thought you took my spot at the KTM demo today? What happened? Just spoke with Shane out there and he said the SX350 felt like Jakes TXC300 power wise and was not in love. Liked the KTM SX150 though, said it ripped on top but less bottom than his 125. - No that trail is a new one somewhere between Ginger and Hollywood.
I was halfway out the door and my coworker tells me he's taking the rest of the day off and asks if I'll cover for him. I about crapped as I was going to do that to him, but got beat to the punch Oh well... I'm more bummed I missed the buffet than anything. Although I'd love to ride a new 250sx. Back to topic.... Rooster and Ron were out there on Monday. Said he staged off Kansas Creek and found some killer stuff. I'm going to put together a Hollywood camping trip soon. No squids, no laggers. I'd love to put together a loop from Hollywood to Ginger to Jordans. I'll send you an invite.
Sounds fun. Adam knows that area well. Good stuff if you know where. Some of it is HAMMERED if you don't . Let's rip.
Yep, that's what I was going to say! I rode Tillamook over 10 years ago and I don't remember seeing a trail that nice! WoodsChick
Wow, just beautiful up there! Allot like Texas cept for all the green, and the trees, and the mountains and.....oh never mind!
That's kinda funny. I'm an Eastern CO/Western KS native and sometimes feel a little claustrophobic in these trees up here! I feel more comfy in the wide open spaces, being able to see the grain elevators 30 miles away at the next town. Nearly complete freedom to do what ever you want out on the farm...... Don't miss the wind, though. I love the GREEN that is here year around on the west side of the Cascades.
Nice pic and I'd rather be going up that mountain side than down it ... Plenty of cool spots in the NW.. GPNW is way cool ... Many many different aspects of riding and landscapes there ... I think the old growth trees are still there just very limited ... Ever hear of pumice? Some of the trails are covered in this stuff up around St Helens ... makes the trails look like they were manicured ... In fact they were manicured by mother nature Here is a pic of me with similar effects but it was all the camera.... It appears to show me at great speed on my 79 CR250 but not really ... It was taken at Boundary 1 trail head(Rd #25) in the sand \ gravel pit behind the parking area ...
We did, then realized how good it was and rode down it. Ride there almost exclusively in the summer. The area you staged out of is called Elks Pass. Yes mother nature fixes the trails each year up there... And it offers excellent riding, long trails, all single track, with awesome views. Almost time to hit it...
yep ... the short season was aways a pain waiting around to ride so we started early and pushed the snow back each week we rode ... It was pretty amazing to see how much snow would melt in a single week .. Every time we went to the highlands, I never wanted to return to the flat lands ... Boundary 1 is a great trail ... It has a few impassable places for us so we would hit it n different locations and ride it to a blocking place and return ...
