I broke down and spent the money on fancy pants.... went for a hellish ride last night and holy crap did I hate these pants.

They are too tight with knee pads on, they are SOOO hot I had to pull the ankle portion over my knees to get some ventilation. At one point I thought riding in my undies would be better.

I was riding slow technical make you want to puke single track....I should have stuck with shorts.

They might be nice for winter, easy terrain and putting around.

For hot weather the Mojave are the ticket, they work great for Atlanta's summer.

I only wear them when it is 60F and below, I really don't care for over the boot but they are handy when it is really sloppy. I usually wear the chinook or the baja pants.

Its not the pants or the slow technical trails that are the problem.

If I'm right you were riding with 'The Wildman'

Good info on the pants. I have looked at mc pants and this makes me happy I wear military BDU's as riding pants. Plenty of room for knee guards, they have pockets, don't melt on the pipe and only cost about $30.

Thats what I have been wearing for the last 3 years....I was way happier. I get the winter pants which are much baggier than normal BDU's and they fit great.

I'm glad you posted this as I was about to pull the trigger on a pair. It's already in the mid 90's here. I really need to break down and buy a pair of the Kevlar pants from Motoport. They supposed to breath better than blue jeans, but $400.

I have a pair of the Dakar's and a pair of the Mojave's...Both are great pants IMHO but the Dakar's do get very warm for me anything above 65-70 degrees outside. The Mojave's on the other hand are outstanding. They vent pretty well when sitting down but as soon as you stand up it feels like someone aimed a fan up your pant leg onto your boys...:applause: Give em a shot, you might love them as much as I do.

That's funny! I thought they were the same exact pants except that the Dakar have a full length zipper on the front and that the Mojave is vented pant all the time (no zipper).
