I am looking for opinions on placing a US 5 on the rear fender of my 501. Curious if anyone has tried it and if the composite subframe and fender would tolerate it. I would like to put a small tool roll in the bag, nothing too heavy. My buddy has one on his 350 EXC with no issues.

I run one of these Dirt-bike-Gear.com bags bolted with 4 Chicago screws directly to the fender. It has a thin sheet of plastic in the bottom of the bag to keep it from tearing through comes in a larger size too. My ass just hits this one when going down really steep stuff. It isn't going to do a darned thing to the subframe.

This area of the composite subframe is very beefy and the fender has the full length support under it for the tiny taillight. Drilling though in the proper location to not have the Chicago screws nuts interfere on the higher ridges of the fender must be thought out though so the hardware doesn't interfere with the composite subframes tail under structure.

The straps expand way out so you can carry something on top and they have nothing to do with holding the bag itself on, very versatile. I leave my Registration tags, insurance card and a few other papers, husky tool kit, a Progressive Suspension hand pump, a first aid kit, Dynaplug kit for my Tubliss set-up incase I need to plug a tire, a multi plier, and a few folding torx & allen head tools, A goggle bag for wiping my goggles off, a rag, a spare set of thin gloves. Its still not full. I had my camera in there last night too.

You cant lose it, it's totally waterproof and I have a few spare new back fenders any way, Both Blue and Black colored, so drilling for this, I didn't really care. SAM_1191.JPG SAM_1190.JPG

Cool thanks. So the fender doesn't flop round too bad?

The fender,It doesn't move at all. It has screws up through the bottom for the subframe self tapping type stock. You would never know this is even on there except when throwing my leg over it and that was not even a problem the first day. Never has been since then either and I'm 5'-11" I don't know how the Kriega bag mounts so I really can't comment. This is it for me. I can carry easily a 2 liter big bottle of soda or whatever your drinkin to camp if I wanted, On top of this thing with the straps.

So you are using the regular size fender bag correct? Not the large?

Yes, its the smaller of the 2 reveille. It was about 35.00 if I remember.
I have a few commercial sewing machines one upholstery machine set up for tactical gear or this type of thing but can't begin to make them for what they cost. Repairs are always easy though and or adding or lengthening straps and so on.
