• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

KTM 690 Duke vs. Husqvarna TR650 Strada

Heh, the Husky spanked the KTM. The Duke had it on brakes, but other than that, the Husky seemed a clear winner. Nice vid. I liked the back and forth as they rode.

And FWIW, I know the guy that rode the Husky most of the day (Ari). He used to be a member of South Bay Riders before he hit the big leagues and got his current gig (which is like a dream job for a riding enthusiast).

Interesting video, and interesting comparison. I guess already owning a TR, I failed to see how anyone could deem the bikes comparable. However, just looking at them on paper, it does seem a likely duo for a duel.

The old dukes always looked like a lot of fun because they were more like supermotos. Now it's just a streetfighter

really?? I find it dead easy to get it in the air... better than a lot of other bikes I have owned.....

Heavy bike, slow reving makes it harder for me to get the front end up. My TE511 is a wheelie monster and i can wheelie that thing everywhere. 4th or 5th gear wheelies at 45-50 mph are no problem but very hard on the TR650. I can get it to wheelie EZ in 1st, 2nd takes some good tugging and third is nearly impossible.

Smaller Counter sprocket?

Smaller Counter sprocket?

Already got one just have not put it on. That said wheelies are not the goal of this bike for me and the stock gearing while tall is fine for my use. Will toss the smaller CS sprocket on one day soon. I want to rip wheelies I'll take the 511.

I'm hoping that KTM/Husky will keep making this bike in the current form for a while. If you ride the TR650 back to back alongside a few other bikes (BMW 650 and 700) it really shines, and comes in at a considerably lower price point. As stated in other threads, if the BMW were less money I would still have chosen the Strada over the F700GS. Regardless of the future, the parts should be available for 6-10 years, and the Rotax engine has a long heritage of reliability and loads of parts and support via other channels. Either way, I got one while the gettin' was good. Deposit is paid, accessories on order.

Awesome video. Don't know about you guys but to me it just re-affirms what we as owners already knew and nothing makes me smile more...

Now I have to resist the urge to go get the Strada to sit next to my Terra...... .

As per their comments in the video, makes perfect sense that the Strada should live on sooo, that means it won't.

I wonder how strada sales compare to the terra. I would think it would be the terra that puts it out of business not the duke. Even with the terra, GS models are still selling

Coz those are BMW's... and all that stir with selling Husky to KTM is not helping... I still am curious, why I'm still the sole TR650's owner in this country...
Feel safe my friend, these bikes rock, too may riders having fun for them to be a dud. I think it's a Cococola strategy, buy it to control the competion. May become the shortest model run in history but I don't care, this is a superior steed.
