Some brands run wide and may rub the chain with 160's.

Most 160's will fit though. The next "normal" step above that is a 180, and it will not fit.

I say for the streets.. stick with 150's its lighter and pegs will toutch before the tire runs out.. for track maybe a 160.. or just for looks..

I have a 2008 610 SM and have had two different brands (Dunlop Roadsmart and Bridgestone BT021) 160/60/17 with about 1/4 inch clearance on each side. Your 630 may be different though.

I am running a 160x60x17" rear tire, and there is not much space between chain and tire. Was planning on going for a 170 wide rear tire, but on my 2011 SM 630 there simply isn`t room.

Anybody with BT-016's? Can you go to a 160, or do you need to stick with a 150. Stock tires must go. They suck.

    hi coldones,

you can run a 160 on the current rim size of 4.24 but after a lot of research, I'm going to change the rear rim to a 5" in order to run a 160/60/17. check out yvoskiro's thread on this website.

    hope that helps.

i think the 150 suits the 4.24 size rim best.....and yeah i know, it's too skinny , you need a 160 for looks alone really...

    Thanks, Enrique.

What tire pressures is everyone running? I have been on litre bikes for 10+ years and drop the pressure 5-9 lbs. Is it the same for the SMS?

I can't find yvoskiro's thread. Any tire info. is much appresiated. I am not happy with the Diablos and know the BT016's well. Of course, I am open to other options.

for tyre pressures, check your manual. i think is about 24 front. and 29 rear. psi.

you cant compare these bikes to 1litre bikes. i have these tyre pressures on mine and they work great.

keep trying for yvoskiro's thread, its the best one out there.

just google his name and husqvarna.

    hope that helps.
    Enrique

might try a diablo supercorsa sps for the bike. a lot stickier than the current diablos on it. i agree.

I'm not sure about other countries, but Pilot Power 2ct's have been discontinued in Australia. I just fitted Pilot Power Pure's front and rear to my SMS630 (great tyre so far). The rear was 160/60/17 which, according to Michelin, measures 161mm wide (same measurement as 2ct). When fitted squeesed to the 4.25" rim the width was 155mm and there is plenty of room on either site. Michelin recomends that the 160/60/17 to be fitted to a 4.5" rim, but can be fitted to 4.25 - 5. These tyres have made riding this bike even more fun.

    hi there akaburnsy,

Im in nsw. this is good news... i really would prefer a 160 rear tire but everyone tells me not to bother as it would be too big for the 4.24 rim.

    So you've done it? right?

Do you have any chain marks on the wall of your tire? even the slightest?

Also, i'm concerned you used the word squeezed.........?

    regards,
    Enrique / sydney.

What other mods have you done to your bike?

Anyone with a Pirelli MT 60-R Dual Sport Rear Tire??? Its size is 160/60 R17... I think a member called Woodschick used them on her SM 630, but I need to be sure they will fit on the stock rim 4.24. Any help will be really appreciated

The 160mm tire fits with no problem on the stock rim, and there are no problem with clearance to the chain on left hand side, or to theinside of arm on the right hand side. Actually, the chain guard is wider than the chain, and "misses" the tire with a fair amount of room to spare.

    Anybody here?
Can someone with a 2011 SM630 please confirm what size rear rim they came with? 4.25" or 5"?
They have a stamping that shows the width and diameter...thanks! :-)
