Has anyone done this? The dimensions are very similar to an oem headlight and the light output from these are ridiculous! I think it would be rather cost effective vs buying an aftermarket housing and buying HID kits for lows and highs. What are you guys' $.02? http://www.RigidIndustries.com/D2-LED-Light-Driving-p/d2-dr.htm
SR-M2. If I were to do it again, I'd go with the dually to fill out the opening better. Haven't been out on the trails late enough to use it yet. Just running up the street it seemed ok other than the big fender shaped black spot right in front of the bike. I'm going to modify my bracket a bit and see if I can move the light up towards the top of the opening and see if that helps the black spot out. I also don't really plan on a lot of night riding, so it was more of a 'just in case' thing. If I find I really need a lot of light, I've got a 6" Rigid light to use, dubbed the light bar of doooooooooom.
Nice! Have any pics with the light on to see how well the output is on a street? My bike has 4x2.5 opening so a single will work on mine no problem. Edit: yea, I was looking at the 6 led driving light. Those bars are ridiculous! Lol
I've heard VERY good things about this company. http://www.cyclopsadventuresports.com This is their assembly. ^^ Is there a way to post youtube links on this site?
Not the best pictures. This is Up-tite LED headlight. I've had this light for about 4 years now and never had a problem with the light. I have used this light on 2 different Husky's. Works well at night on the road, never had any people flash their lights at me. This light is 1000times better than any stock light out there.
I went on a trip for the past week and the first day there we had some problems and didn't get back until well after the sun went down. The light I have (sr-m2, driving pattern) worked decently enough to get off the trails without running into anybody, anything, or running off of the trail. It was a pretty mild pace as out of the 5 people in the group, 2 did not have lights at all. My only complaint was a little more throw would have been nice (not sure if the dually d2 would help that or not) but otherwise it did the job at the pace we were running. I wouldn't try and ride at any kind of quick pace with it though. This was on unfamiliar trails with a lot of blind crests and turns, street use would probably be better.
Same old problems for us .... does it have the EU approval stamp? Looks like the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel" as the b*gger is showing very definite signs of its eminent demise.
I recently have done this one on the cheap i used this ebay chinese special LED spotlight, $60 mounted it in the headlight surround, this requires some trimming of the light casing and i still need to make brackets to hold it in place. The light output is like this, totally illegal here is australia and would be offensive to any oncoming drivers but i do not do any road riding.
Hey 13101093, Did you use the factory wiring and the OE stator? It sounds like this is an easy upgrade for about $75. Can you confirm...
Yes i did use factory wiring and stator, the output from my 2008 te is DC and the spotlight is DC as well.
Picked up an open-box return dually d2 for a decent bit of savings. It fits the opening quite nicely.
Those setups look really good ... I need something like that ..maybe even a rechargeable type ... I don't even want to cut any wires for operation but I do get caught out at dusk, early evening sometimes and need something to just bolt on the bike and go ... Remove it because it may not be needed for a month ir more...
Sorry to revive this really old thread but how did this setup work? do you have any pics of the light pattern, is it the wide, diffused or driving? I'm planning on doing this to my 2012 TE310 with the Dually D2 driving pattern.
It was the driving pattern model. Kind of a spot/flood combo. It worked well enough for some casual "oh crap it got dark waaaaay faster out here than we expected and we still have 30 mins of trails to get back to camp and out of 3 bikes I have the only light" a few times. I now have a Baja Designs squadron pro (driving pattern also) in there that kicks the crap out of the RI light in output. It also fits the stock headlight bracket nicely with minimal fab work.
