Looking for a new dash

Howdy everybody. I have had my Strada for a couple weeks now, and I do like it, but it has a few quirks.

I have already installed a Booster Plug, and that got rid of nearly all the engine issues (such as it stalling whenever it felt like it), and it takes off from a stop much smoother. I highly recommend the Booster Plug. The bike still occasionally stalls for a second mid-launch, and is quite audible, but it catches itself and continues on.

Anyway, I have a few dislikes about the stock dash it comes with. After a couple uses, the dash "resets" mode positions. I will turn the bike on, and the default mode will be set to some weird mode I have not yet identified, and I have to change it back to the clock mode after each time it does this. Also, the lack of fuel and gear gauges is quite annoying.

I am basically looking for an all in one unit that has a tachometer, speedometer, clock, current gear display, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, ABS light (so I remember to turn it on again after leaving a trail), etc. Yes, I know that there are very attractive digital fuel and gear gauges made by Dakota, but just both of those gauges together cost about as much as a new all in one unit, so I would like to see what my options are.

Thanks in advance for the assistance guys. I appreciate every pixel of it!

P.S. I have looked at Dakota, Trail Tech, Koso, and a couple others, but I haven't seen anything with what I am wanting.

Assuming your bike is new and still under warranty I would first bring it back and have them look at the "reset" thing the dash is doing.
    That's not right.

You make a comment that you want an ABS light on your "dream" dash.
Your stock dash ABS light is working, correct?

The dash should come up in the last mode you left it. If that's not happening, the dealer needs to fix it.

As Ogre started to illude...the ABS light ON indicates that the ABS system is OFF. ABS is ON by default, everytime you start the bike. You must manually turn it OFF, which illuminates the dash light.

EDIT: Also note that the dash has a CON mode. This is your fuel consumption meter (UG: Usage Gallons). Nearly everyone has had this meter nearly spot on. You must manually reset this meter each time you fill up.

That happened to me at the filling station. I was trying to reset the trip meter and ended up in a wild place. Had to break out the manual on how to set the instruments and all is fine now, except I read in IG instead of UG, just haven't got around to changing it.

I was in panic mode, but just a procedure. And yes the dash is worthless. I can read it most of the time when it is parked inside, other than that, it's all about flying by the seat of your pants.

It almost sounds like you have an electrical problem. Could it be that the dash is losing battery power when you turn it off sometimes and this is causing the reset ? Pictures, or an accurate description of exactly is on the dash when this happens will make it easier to try to understand what is going on in your case.
As for fuel gauges, this bike has the most accurate fuel gauge of any bike I have ever owned. I invariably leave the display showing fuel consumption and then just scroll around if there is anything else I need to see occasionally.

Yes, I bought the bike brand new from a dealership 100 miles away(no joke). The ABS light works as it should on the current dash. I was only stating that I wanted a similar feature in a new dash so I would know whether ABS was on or not.

I saw today that it is the CON mode that pops up on it's own. I prefer having the clock as my main display mode because I ride the bike to work every day and I like to know whether I should pick up the pace or not so as not to be late. Switching back and forth between modes just seems ridiculous (not to mention distracting) to me, as does having to reset the gauge every time after refueling (sorry :excuseme:).

I have seen a couple dashes that have nearly everything I am looking for (including an actual fuel gauge that shows how much fuel is remaining in the tank), but I did not see any with an ABS option.

You should be able to have the clock show every time you restart.
As noted it should stay in what ever mode it was when you turn it off.
If you feel your dealer is too far away (I WISH mine was only 100 miles, try 300+) I would try Mag00's idea and look at the manual to be sure its not stuck in the middle of the process of defining the units of measure.

FWIW I would be very surprised if you can find a dash that does everything you want AND will work on this bike.
I am not even sure if you can replace the dash at all as I believe it is serialized and tied into the whole computer system.

Even if you can find one that will work, the bike has to have the sensors/inputs/outputs to give you what you want.
There are no sensors in the tank that provide fuel level, and creating/calibrating that is not something I could see as plug & play.
    mag00 and Lekolite like this.
