I couldn't ride today until after 12:00 noon, so I went out for a ride on the 610 to Stave Lake just see what it was like. Stave lake is 35mins out-side of Greater Vancouver. It can be a nut house on the weekends. The lake is fair sized. The picture is just of one small arm of the lake and there were hundreds of people on the mud flats. It's been compared to a Mad Max movie. The place has it's share of stolen burnt out cars. People camp over and party. Some party too much. Somebody(s) gets hurt. The mud flats are real zoo. There was even a boat stuck in one of the little bays in the mud flats. I stayed away from the mud bogs. I saw one guy a medium sized ATV stuck in the mud. The wheels were covered. Another ATV was trying to pull him out, but couldn't. Other ATV were ripping on the road making so much dust it was like driving in a white out. Not to mention, some guys riding with no helmets or shirts. But who cares when you have drugs and beer. And lets not forget the kids that are out riding in all of this too. Oh yea, speaking of Mad Max. The guy on the driver side of the jeep in the picture. Was riding on the running board and has a Mohawk. He looked like he just came off of the movie set of Mad Max... too funny.
Wow, i cant get away from that place...i was recently into 4x4's and that place is redneck central, an embarrassment to the sport... Glad you didnt get run over.
Whenever I venture into those areas I always leave feeling a little sad and at the same time surprised that the redneck population is still growing.
The funnest thing was the guy on the ATV that was stuck in the mud. He had bib-overalls on with no shirt. Not to make fun of the guy, but he must of been 450 lbs. He was one huge guy. He was still on his ATV when the other ATV was tying to pull his out. I was going to stop to help, and say that maybe you should get off the ATV. But I don't think it would of ended well.
