I just bought my TXC with the advice from the dealer it was suitable for enduro racing which Im hoping it is. But out of curiosity are there any major differences between the TE and TXC that make the TE more suitable for Baja desert racing than the TXC? (apart from fuel injection)

TXC is basically the top end of a TC and the bottom of the TE (ie 6 gears). As well as some suspension differences (ie 50 over 45 front).

There may be some other differences but I think that is the major stuff

The TXC is a better race bike for many reasons. Lighter, faster, turns better, simpler (wires, EFI, instruments, etc.) The TE is a great do it all street legal bike. The TXC is a stripped race bike which makes a nice trail bike as well.

Ah cool, was a little bit concened but this is good. I thought the TE may have had a different gear ratio setup.
The dealer said I can road register the TXC as well but normally if a bike doesnt come with a side stand thats the first indicator that its not ment for the road. Will pass by the registry in the coming weeks and try my luck :)

I'm not sure about the 010 model TE or TXC or do I know what year model you have but the 08 (and probably 09) TE had a longer rank than the TXC. The TXC has the same rake as the TC...This longer rank should have the effect of a more stable bike when haulin' ass in straight lines across the desert. And I'm certainly not saying the TE is a better than the TXC in the desert. I'm just pointing out this one difference in the bikes.

Gears were the same on the 08 models and not sure about the 010s. The stronger motor and 6-speed tranny are what got me on the TXC

I had a new 1976 CR250...100% racer of the time and it had a kick stand...Not sure when they dropped them off bikes but some companies finally figured out that a kick stand is not such a novel thing after all. The TEs also have a steering lock...I'd like one of those on my TXC also.

Now that both bikes have been out for a while, is the consensus that the TE does NOT have the same engine as the TXC? Early on there was some speculation that the TXC would be more TE like for 2010 with regard to engine performance than in years past.

Have a look at the parts list PDF file to see differences.

I think you will find only the forks and lights...

The FW on the TXC is the light MX version. Guess this goes without saying :)
