Speaking as a ~10 yr army vet, SSG and peace time soldier ('86-'96), I'm not sure what these guys real agenda is but on the surface, it sounds good. But I'd hate to find out the usa GOV is involved in some manner behind the scenes and using this as a recruiting tool. I'm just not down with using teenagers \ young adults to do your dirty work unless 100% necessary. And it ain't necessary today.

I'll agreed, that discount is not much but it is something, right? Its a capitalist world!

If any active duty soldiers read this, I'll offer my Huskies to you free of charge for 5 days riding if you can get here before I die. We'll work out the details later and your active duty military card can be used as a passport? So look for a hop coming to the Philippines and maybe I can fix you up with a place to stay also at a low low cost. I'll consider officers (butter bars included) here also but no promises and troops first, OK?

I'd much rather see an 'Education Themed' racing night. What you guys that have never been in the service do not know is that many many of us (including me), went into the service for education money. This dates back as far as the NAM days also I believe as I talked to a couple guys older than me, NAM guys, who wanted education money also via the military services. Very very very very few soldiers that I talked with over my 10 yr, almost totally peace-time career, joined for the reasons (to save the world and the usa) put forth by the media propaganda machine. We were all just trying to better ourselves and the military provided a path forward. In my case, the decade there is still giving back to me today.

With this in mind, ~most of the soldiers in the service since 2003(?) have NOT been doing much towards education due to the real fighting and their location. This lose of > a decade of educated youth can ~not be measured and you probably will not hear about this on cnn or elsewhere. It is another immeasurable lose for our country and our youth due to our leaders(?) actions. It's my scoop to you. Not really a scoop but just another bad side-effect of these conflicts that is just lost as we all salute the flag and send our children to foreign lands most of us will never never ever see.
