    Hey,

I have just bought a TE630, when I got it the oil level was below min, so I called the dealer I bought it from and asked what oil I should top it up with, he told me Mineral during the break in, and if I wanted to I could switch to synthetic after that.
I have just got a copy of the service manual and it says to use synthetic.....Does anybody know if the 630 comes from the factory with synthetic, or does it get changed over after the first service?

I have topped it up with mineral, however I am now worried that I am mixing synthetic and mineral.

If I should have used synthetic, does anybody know what the consequences would be from mixing the 2?

    Cheers,
    Doug

Synthetic oil all the time. There are synthetic blends, so mixing some (motorcycle) dino in there didn't do any harm.

    Doug,

To answer the questions actually asked...

I believe that the oil in the bike as delivered from the factory is synthetic.

Most synthetics are compatible with mineral oils, so don't sweat it. The first change will come up quick enough.

    Cheers

    Hello Doug
High quality petroleum or ester based oils are interchangeable.
top up the oil with petroleum high performance oil and after the 1000km/600 miles
    switch to Motorcycle synthetic oil.

Thanks for the answers guys, picked the bike up from the first service today.

Had it done at the dealer for warranty, so I am not sure what oil is in it, I am sure it is written down on the work order they gave me somewhere. Didn't really ask many questions when I was there as I have not really been impressed with their service since I bought the bike and would prefer to spend as little time there as possible.

Now I just need to wait for some gear to get here now the postal strike is over and I will finally be set.
