Mitas E-09 Tires

    Hi,

    I just put a Mitas E-09 on the back of my 610. I was going to go with a Dunlop 606. But the Mitas was half the cost, so I thought I would check it out.

    I was just wondering if anybody had any input on the Mitas E-09.

    I also changed my suspension settings, maxed them to the left (plus). Sofar I have only been on the road, but it does feel softer. I can actually feel the suspension move now.

    The only place that had information about Mitas tires that I could find on the web was werproducts, but it does not appear they are selling them anymore - at least I could not find them on the website.

    Dunno what that tire looks like.

    Well I have just got Mitas Leisure Cross C04 130/90/18 on the rear,
    and Shinko Holeshot 504 at front for my 08 610

    I had the original Karoos which were at 2500kms. The rear was getting quite flat.

    Most of my riding buddies are using Mitas and they are happy. They also appear to be better when we hit mud and similar terrain.

    I wanted a better tyre to use in the Forest where ground is Mud and not so hard.

    The web site of Mitas describes the tire to be good for that.

    After getting the tires changed on my way home I noticed followings,
    - It was a rainy day. On the asphalt on a fresh rain I feel slippery. However this may be due to the road surface as well. Since I felt the same with some other bikes as well. In any case I was easy on the throttle.
    - I was able to get on some green fields. Now I definetely have a better traction. The bike launches forward and it is more stable.
    On gravel similar effect. Much better grip and reaction.:applause:

    I will report more once I spend more time riding offroad.

    Okay here is a quick feedback about the Mitas rear, Shink Front combination.

    I have spent around 3 hours in the forest today. As the web site of the manufacturers says these tires are great in soft terrain like mud, mushy staff like leaves etc. No sliding very good grip.

    In tight paths with water canals, excellent control, nice feedback.

    When it comes to hard packed dirt with gravel (almost like cement) the front felt wobly during slow down. I did not check the tire pressure. That maybe the reason. In any case the tires perform the best when I need them, mud and stuff.

    On a completely different issue, there were people collecting mushrooms in the forest. The mushrooms were all over the place big and different types. When asked they responded they only collect the ones they know. One guy even gave me a short lecture about what to watch. I say this is an interesting trade where the know how of a generation may be abruptly come to an end after a wrong pick of mush rooms:eek:
