I'm sure this has been covered before, but I didn't see anything in a quick scan, so I thought I'd ask. What are the key differences between the TEs, TCs, TXCs and WRs. I know the TEs are platable 4 strokes. I think the WRs are 2 strokes. But the TCs and TXCs seem pretty similar to the TEs, only generally not platable (or are they?) Thanks!
A couple of comments. The TC intended application is mx, and the TC gear box is much closer spaced than a TE or TXC (which share the same gearbox). So the TC has spacings sorta like a crf450f, whereas the TE/TXC is sorta like a crf450x (last I checked). When I bought my 2006 te250 at the dealer, it worked just like a car. It only came with plates and required street insurance (minimal compared to a car).... as opposed to being 'plateable' which as you probably well know, is a bit of a touchy subject these days.
I wouldn't mind a smaller, lighter dirt bike, preferably plated. Not that I'd get rid of my TE610e. I've only had it 6 months. But I doubt I could live with the stringent maintenance intervals.
Husky will have a TE449 model out in a couple months ... It is all new with a bmw engine but from all accounts, it is low geared also but might have a softer seat than the current TE line of bikes ... The current seats are like a rail after about ~50 miles ... The TE310 would be a good bike I think ... It should have plenty of power and not as heavy as 450cc bike ...
