Dont see much for supermoto stuff in here.. Anyone racing a series at their Local track (Kart or SM specific)? Lets here of some results from different series around the country/world! I just raced in Grand Junction last weekend July 29th. Its a pretty tight technical track with a few somewhat larger corners one long wide sweeper. I got 8th out of 12 riders in the novice class. I was the only 250 and battled it out with the 450's and one DRZ400. I was in 7th for half of the race, but I finally couldnt hold a YZ450F off and he got by me, from then on he got a good lead on me... so I stayed in 8th. To make things better, I only wrecked once in the dirt!!! I also raced the asphalt only class where i finished 8th again out of 12 or so riders... There was a husky 510 towards the front of the pack, a couple fast riders on 250's, bunch of 450's (fast and slow guys), Then me on my little 250 The majority of the time I was chasing a KTM 450 and got around him once in the tight stuff, but he pulled away once the corner opened up... Hopefully Ill get my pics/vids up soon and get some from others as well!
Heres a video that was made of the race day. Im #191. Not a whole lot of coverage on me But there is another husky besides me! And its tagged and lit! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8hasaIJWz4 And some pics from the saturday practice:
Ha Ha I think every rider there got more video time then you!!! You must be slow. But I did see your not the only joe rocket sport bike leather wearing queer there! Man that looked like fun. Next year I'll be there with you then you can place 8th out of 13 instead of 12
Damn right I like my leather!!! Im trying to get a video from one of the other racer's GoPro, but she hasnt responded yet.. She was behind me almost the whole novice race. She did pass me on the long straight but I got her at the end of the straight in turn 1. I backed it right back into my position in front of her, 2 or 3 laps in a row!
I ride supermoto up here in Calgary Alberta Canada. I was actually down your way a couple of weeks ago in Missoula MT. Rode with a couple of guys you may of come across down your way, Matt Spencer on a very nice KTM 505 and Brian on an equally nice YZF450. Can't recall Brians last name but super nice guy and very smooth and fast rider. Pretty sure Brian lives in Missoula and Matt is from the Salt Lake area I believe. Where do you all usually ride in the Utah area? There is a good crew of us that are willing to travel for good supermoto tracks so let me know where and when and I'll see if I can round up the crazy Canadians for another road trip.
Ya! Im acutally talking to Matt about going up to Missoula to ride. Do you have any pictures of that track?? He said it had some really cool elevation changes.. Maybe you can come down again, I think he said something about a trip in september, and one in October. Not sure when Ill be going though. Ill keep ya posted. We ride at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Just a half hour west of Salt Lake City. Its a great track, supposed to be one of the best in the country, but I dont know if you can call it that because of the poor communication and attitudes of most of the staff there. If you want to call about riding there, its best to ask for christine. She really likes the supermoto riders and is usually pretty good about helpin us out. Theres a race at Miller on the 26th of september and the 24th of october if you guys wanna come down. Our series is pretty small as far as rider count. I believe last time we had 13 riders.. But hey we're building it back up!!
The Missoula track was great fun, well worth the trip. I have a few pics, shoot me your email address and I'll send them to you. I'm not sure when we are going to get back there, we're hoping at least once before the snow flies. And it would be great to get down to Miller sometime, I've heard it is a great track. Too bad the race series kind of fizzled up there, hopefully it will come back to life again though. How late in the year is the track open down there? The October race would be a nice way for us to finish up the season since our last track day is Sep 13. We have a new club here in Calgary and our insurance doesn't allow for races so we just have track days. Fun but for the competitive folks in our group, we are getting hungry to race! With 12-13 riders, do you guys split it up into a fast group and a slower group or just run 1 "class" with everyone at the track at once?
We run 2 groups. Minis, then everything else. The classes are split up into 250/400 beginner and expert, and open beginner and expert. so the 4 classes are scored seperately using transponders.
