The MXdN is coming up fast so I just wanted to see how many fellow Husky riders will be coming out to Colorado to watch and enjoy the show. If you are on the fence about whether or not to come you need to be here. The MXdN is hands down the best race of the year. A very unique dynamic and all the international fans really make it something special. We will be camping out from friday to monday. Will be the rv with a tall flag pole with the US flag and a Colorado flag below it. Swing on by for some horse shoes, bench racing, some green chili and a colorado brew! During the races we'll be near the top of the big hill with the same two flags flying high. U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A. !!!
Intent was to be there, tapped out from local shows at GH and Pala. Still hoping for a last minute reprieve. If so, will definitly look you up. RN
AC222!! he certainly is a thrill to watch. I still think our guys are the team to beat, now if only they build a WMX team competition the US women's team with JP$ and Fiolek would also be a tough team as well. thx Colo!
Me and my buddy will be there. Flying in Friday at noon. It will not be televised, but you can see it on the web on freecaster.
Group of 4 coming up from Tucson. We will arrive Sat evening, might stop by the track for the evening festivities. Sunday any suggestons on where to view the race from? I will look for your camp. Go USA! Eric
I always watch from near the top of the big hill, next to the downhill double. Once you get there it will be pretty clear where I am talking about. You can see almost the whole track from up there. The rest of the track is pretty good too, not any trees to get in your view.
I'll look for you Colo moto. RV, stars n' stripes and CO flag.... note to self. I'll be hobbling around in a walking boot. I would say I'll be easy to spot, but MX races are always full of gimps!
Sorry I missed you Clay. I tried calling the number you gave me, but I must have mistyped it into my phone cause the people on the other end didn't know anyone named Clay. We got into the campground Sat night and I thought I found you, but it turns out there's LOTS of RV's flying state and US flags. We had a blast anyway. Met up with the guys from Moto Adventure in Fort Collins and enjoyed their hospitality Sat. night. Wild times!!! Wow. Gonna need a few days to recover.
New friend Joe from Eugene, OR Stickering up bones with our buddies biz I only had my $96 point and shoot and a broken leg, so picture taking ranked pretty low for me. The place is so big and the PA system was so quite I was having trouble hearing the race being announced, so I wasn't really sure about all the riders results until getting home and rewatching it on the web. I do remember Roczen passing Canard during Saturday's qualifier and it was amazing. That kid is for real. Other than that nothing really sticks out except for Dungey and Short running 1-2 to seal the deal. Pretty sweet event. PS - it is freaking HOT in Colorado. I never knew
Good times, We were on the hillside farther to your left by the RedBull bar. Walked down next to the track a few times, that big tabletop you shot with Dungy was sick. The 250's would have to literally sit on thier rear fenders and superman up the face of the jump then pull themselves all the way up and kiss the front fender and still not land on the backside. The face of the jump was out of a hole and you couldnt see over the lip... these guys are amazing. Shorts fall in his first moto kept it interesting for the last moto but when Dungy checked out it was pretty much over. No fights and everyone seem to have a great time. We stayed after in the parking lot and had some drinks. Met some great people including a crew from Holland and Sweden. I was the guy with the right arm in a sling in case you might have seen and felt sorry for me haha. Sporting my vintage Husky shirt of course!
Sorry I missed you guys. Sounds like you both had a blast just like we did. I took up a bunch of friends who had never been to an MX race and they loved it. We set up camp Friday night and had a few drinks with the neighbors from Omaha. Walked around for a while and met a few people then headed back to camp. Ours was the RV with carpet, christmas lights and a couch and the super tall flag. Saturday we checked out the qualifying races. I was super impressed with Roczen. That kid can ride. That night more of the same except more friends and more drinks. I was a little disappointed in how few foreign fans were there compared to Buds Creek a couple years ago, but ohh well. It's an expensive trip. I was really looking forward to seeing the Dungey vs Cairoli battle. Unfortunately it never really happened. They started near each other in the first moto and worked their way through the pack and once they were 1 - 2 they left everyone else behind, but Cairoli could never really make a run at Dungey. Roczen was impressive again as he was one of only a few 250's jumping the uphill triple where we were standing. Canard didn't even attempt it all day. The second moto was cool when Short holeshot in his home state. The crowd went crazy everytime he came around. After short and Townley came together and short went down it looked like it would be Townley all alone out front. Then that Roczen kid chased Townley down and passed him for the lead. It didn't last too long, but was impressive to see none the less. The third moto Short holeshot again with Dungey in 2nd right behind him. The place came unglued! Cairoli didn't get a very good start, and his 350 looked like it was just a half step behind the 450's at altitude. There was a huge quad jump that he just couldn't quite clear. All in all a great weekend. I think that Colorado sun took it's toll on some visitors though. Not a cloud in the sky all day left quite a few sunburned fans out there. Can't wait for France next year.
