Does anyone have a complete 1985-86 400 or 430 motor they would be interested in selling for cheap or could possibly point me in the right direction of one..... also for cheap? Motor doesn't necessarily have to be running but would prefer if it did but like I said not necessary.

    Thanks

    Zack

you could probably expand your search to 87-88 as well, i dont think there are any differences other than the 85-86 having 5 spring clutch and 87-88 having the 6 spring clutch and an improved aluminum clutch cover. both are upgrades for the earlier style imho.

what is your definition of cheap??
put it in the classifieds section, but the word makes some people uneasy you might try "reasonable"

Just hope you understand that for what you want, a complete engine in need of top end, clutch, and crank bearings, ie, in need of a lot of parts and attention would cost a minimum of $500 but like far more

Biggest thing on eBay I see is that engines are broken down to pieces, even centercases are sold individually. The cost of shipping is a driving factor, then there are those who only want the clutch case or whatever they need to get their engine going.

Do you not have an engine at all? If you have something, you can buy what you need to get it going

I have an engine but it's an auto and I know clutches are really hard to find and the clutch that's in it right now may only give me one or two rides and I would like to ride the bike more than twice if I'm going to put money into it, so that's why I'm trying to find a motor that I could fix up and then drop into the frame so I could continue to ride the bike.

    An 430 ae ?
Do you need a Automatic bottom end or manual 6 speed ?

Yes it's a 86 430 ae and I would need clutches for it eventually but at the moment the ones in the bike should be good for one or two rides. If I can't find any clutches for it after the ones that are in it are worn out I would like to drop in a manual 6 speed engine into it so I can continue to enjoy the bike.

i like your plan submit. you should be able to reuse the jug and exhaust with the manual engine. sell the auto engine to a collector/auto freak and enjoy the bike.

You might be able to find compatible Sprague clutches at a power transmission supplier. It is worth a look if your auto engine is otherwise viable.

I happen to have a 1986 400WR basket case I got about 7 years ago. I have had the cylinder bored, got a new Wossner piston kit for it. The rear engine mount got egged so it looks like the PO opened it up to press in a sleeve. As I tired as I get with everything I need to do for it, I refuse to give up and part it out. I do plan to finish it, but right now I have higher ranking priorities. I even got a replacement frame for it, so it will happen someday. I need to thin the herd somewhat so I have 2 Husqvarnas and a 1986 KX250 I plan to sell after I finish them first
