Not looking for debate on whats best oil just wondering about which is most popular motorex premix? I use amsoil but looking for a better smell when burning. I have castrol but heard its not good for bike. I looked up motorex and wow are there alot of choices

Motorex Crosspower. It's the one that burns with such a nice smell and the one that all the shops that stock Motorex seem to carry.

@50:1 for 20lt it's 400mls...buy some castor(Maxima 927, Silkolene KR2, Castrol R30 etc) then use 350ml of Motorex or whatever synthetic 2t oil and add 50mls of castor and you'll have the aroma of castor without the nasty varnish of a full castor mix?

    castor isnt dino oil..
but i agree, i wouldnt mix different brands either. some companies offer oils with varying amounts of castor to suit your needs, or for ultimate cleanliness none at all.
most companies blend too much castor (or something that smells like it) into the oil..heavy castor blend is for hard alcohol/methanol racing.

to the original poster, you would be wise to stick with the amsoil as its very good and clean..or pick an oil with a mild castor blend and be done with it. changing alot can be bad as sooner or later you may find one that doesnt play well with another.

50ml over 350ml isn't going to kill you motor...it's only for the aroma and you don't need to overly mix it like it was a full blown castor mix...you could go to a 380ml syn and 10ml castor as well. My 95 WR360 has seen this mix (50ml castor) for years and my PV's and carb doesn't gum up.
Castor is still the best lubricant for a 2t but it varnishes/gum's up quite badly carbs and PV's not to mention it's a prick to mix (just can't pour and shake a few times and be done with it), nor does it store well hence Maxima 927 is the best out there without the nastiness of proper castor like Castrol R30...still doesn't store well.
The OP asked for a better smelling oil..the best oil is a synthetic oil like Motul, Amsoil, Motorex, Silkolene, Repsol, Maxima, etc and they all have a similar aroma with (IMO) Motul having the most distinctive...until you drop a bit of castor and it's like..mmmmmm.

I ran the castrol a747(manual calls for it) for first few tanks in 300 but it's too bloody expensive! That n 927 do smell good tho!

I ran a bottle if motorex like above but it has a horrible smell(unburnt oil in bottle I mean not exhaust smell) I reckon. Sickly detergenty acrid toxic type smell(yeah I know it's oil!) which put me off it.

I run 5lt castor (silkolene KR) after every top end rebuild and then syn (silkolene Comp 2 or Comp2 Plus) after flushing the tank....actually drop 10mls from time to time into the 4 banger just to get rid of that 4 banger smell:p.

BTW, l'm a 2T oil slut...so long as it's easily available, syn ester or full syn plus cheap, thats me...except that TTS crap which you need a paint mixer to stir in well and smokes more than cheech and chong.

My understanding is the castor blend are better/offer more protection for high rpm(mx) correct as opposed to full syn for normal trail riding?

So next time I got to an mx park if I drain tank first then run silkolene kr2 for tank or 2 I'll be sweet(32:1 still)? I jus wanna smell it while I'm cuttin laps then I'll drain n go back to OMGs favourite TTS for regular trail riding
