Haha yep...I'm gambling on the battery. Never heard of it before and dunno how long it'll last. But for $50 (1/3 of the major brands) I'll take my chance :D

Btw, RDTCU, based on your experience modifying the cans, if I were to get a custom fabricated single sided can, what measurements would you recommend? I mean the inner core (perforated pipe) diameter, length? Outer can diameter, length?

Anyone else have thoughts on this?

If you're going to go to a single can, you'll have to make a new bend section to replace the "Y" where it splits off to the two now, and it probably needs to be roughly the same diameter as the midpipe is now, in front of the "Y"

As for the core, I would keep it about the same size as the midpipe, maybe a touch smaller depending on what is available.
Make sure they use some nice quality perforated tubing or it can sound terrible.

As for the OD, the larger it is, the deeper the sound, as long as you're using good glass packing.

An oval will get you more internal volume without hanging too far off the bike.

Errm .... you could maybe make your own skidplate out of Coke cans?

Cool! I just picked up a new vernier caliper to measure things up...dunno where my old one went :/
would be cool if anyone's got the midpipe inner diameter measurements so I don't have to take it apart just to measure the it :D

BTW, do you think a 4 inch diameter aluminum tube is sufficient for the outer can? that's the largest diameter pipe I can find at the moment. If it won't accommodate, then I'll have to get one custom made out of stainless steel sheets...which is a lot more work and prolly more weight

Naaah...I wouldn't go with coke cans...but Folgers cans might do cause they're a bit thicker

It'll work, but it'll be louder and higher pitched than something with more volume.

Ok so I opted to fabricate a bigger diameter can. I didn't want it to be too loud/high pitched. So it's gonna be around 5.5-6 inch diameter.
And since it's gonna be custom made from 1mm sheet metal, might as well play around with the design. Akra's hexagon looks nice! :D

So here it is. Custom stainless steel headers and muffler. 2in inner diameter, hexagon-ish outer can. 45cm in length.
Sounds great and it pulls...bottom end torque definitely improved. Cost me about $150
