on a husky 570 tc was having a good day out with friends on the bikes out for a few hours everything going grand. then all of a sudden my bike just died. almost like i was holding the kill switch in. tried to kick it a few times. but nothing. not even a kick back with the trottle on. which either means the fuels not getting there or its not sparking right? well spark plugs grand its sparking and fuels getting in. so i dont know whats woring with it. its hasnt blew up because it kicks over fine compressions all there any clues would be great
check valve adjustment would be one thing. I'm just repeating something from a mechanic on another thread. Maybe do a compression test. I'll see if I can look up what you should expect on PSI. Just a guess that it would be 120 or so IIRC
I would check the wires going to the kill switch. Sometimes a rubbing wire will ground. Also, disassemle the kill switch. It may have mud or water in it, or may be corroded. Also, just because gas is getting to the carb does not mean it's getting through the carb. The kill switch and wire are the first things to look at because they are the most accessible. Next, I would check the vent lines to the carb. If they are stopped up, the carb cannot carburate gas from the bowl. They must allow air to come into the bowl in order for the carb to suck gas up though the jet. If cleaning these (better to just put on new ones if yours are clogged) does not do the trick, then most likely you already have something stopping up the jets. Remove the carb and carb bowl to make sure it is clean. Could be that you have stopped up jets. Remove and clean them carefully with a very small wire, one that will pass throught them easily. Don't use anything that will just barely fit as they may damage hte just or break off in it. I see this all the time around here particularly with carbed Yamaha ATVs. Seems like they love to suck stuff up the vent tubes. Especially when breaking new trails and riding in tall weeds. Had a spider sucked up in mine once and it stopped up the main jet. Bike would run on idle and through low rpm, but when building rpm it acted like it would just run out of gas-because it was running out of gas. You may well have something stopping all the jets. If neither are the problem, I would run the compression test. An unadjusted valve might be the case, but usually that is more noticable in the amount of compression you feel at the kick. Usually it is enough that it is noticable when kicking. Had a piece of spark plug thread come off and hang open a valve on an old DR 250 I had once and there was NO compression. Blew it out with and air hose and blew it on through. Compression was back instantly. These are all things to check during the diagnostic process. If it's anything more than that, it would be hard to give a legitimate answer until these things were checked. I'm betting clogged vent lines and/or jets though...
any updates? confuscious say: the solution to a problem is usually the simplest and most logical one.
well i missjudged it brand new spark plug no spark. so its an electrical problem. kill switch is fine and the wires to it are fine so it could be the cdi stator might need recoiled (£160 to get it done 3rides ago) lose wire somewhere have not found the problem yet and it is seriously annoying me. i find enigne work alot less irriatating. trying to find the problem is so time comsuming and seems to have no ends.
ah, ok.... well there ya go. start at the new plug, back probe from there and inspect every little thing, esp the plug wire. you have a loose or dead something electrical. also- check the work you just did re: your stator.
ahhh i hate working with electrics they make me angry might just leave it into a shop get them to sort it
Those bikes had a semi often issue of loosing the magnets on the flywheel. Puts it out of time. Call George at Up-tite, he knows all about this problem.
