My good friend and riding buddy (though I usually only see her when we get back to the truck. lol) made the women's USA ISDE team!! Her name is Kerrie Swartz and she's from right here in Moore, OK. Her teammates are Amanda Mastin and Nicole Bradford I'm so thrilled for her...now we just need to raise the money to get her there since there's quite a bit of expense involved! Does anyone have any ideas for sponsorships or fundraising? To this point, she's mostly been privateer with a few parts sponsors. I'm building a website for her so she has a better web presence. Any ideas from those experience with fundraising/sponsorship solicitation...would be awesome.
throw fund raisers, post on boards with a paypal to send to, asked friends and family. it is a massive group effort to make that happen. For sure do a web site and include Paypal account info.
many club riders as well as the 3 national teams sell T shirts at like $25 to$30 for a shirt. Yes a T shirt is not that much but it is implied that the fee is in support of the cause. Quite common in ISDE realm.
Maria Forsberg isn't doing it? Rumor has it Maria gets a waaaaaay better support deal from KTM than Mandi does from Yamaha - and KTM isn't sending our fastest chick?? That's odd. Wonder what the reason is. Oh well, makes for more opportunity for others. Congrats to your friend.
Good idea on the t-shirt. I'll start throwing some designs together. I'll add a paypal link to the website. I'm not sure about Forsberg. Maybe KTM can show some of that love to Kerrie instead.
I met her on a trail here one day (she lives and rides in the Seattle area) and was a super nice chick. I believe she is on the, or a team.
Maria Fosberg was asked and declined, A great deal of effort is made to field the best U.S.A. ISDE teams.
the French women will be tough again this year with Lulu leading the team. All the best to our US womens team.
good for kerrie. my fiancee was truly bummed to break her ankle a month before the Idaho City Qualifier. with Maria and Lacey not going, there was definitely an opportunity for someone else to get a chance.
The Forsberg family is concerned about safety issues (rightly or wrongly) in Mexico. Congratulations to your friend and best wishes for a successful ISDE!
I have been doing tire changes for people to raise money for the ISDE since last fall. Of course, I DNF'ed the Idaho qualifier because I ran out of GAS so I won't be going (I'll be back next year). I raised nearly $1000 from just changing tires, and I've gotten pretty darned decent at doing them too. Though I've learned that I hate doing tubes, they're so much slower, and you have to be more careful, and the whole air thing..... I digress. She could raise some money off of tire changes. I generally asked for $10 per tire, unless someone brought an entire bike, which I asked for $30. Most people would throw me a $20 if they watched me do it. I also worked a deal with my shop to sell me tyres at dealer cost so I could resell them. I generally made $10 per tire. It is very fortunate for me that I have some friends who believe in me and really helped me a lot,(I'm sure she does too) including transporting me to the qualifier and putting me up for the weekend. I'm sure she can get some support. Wondering if we could ask for a banner ad to be placed on the site that would direct to her website? Or any other board member who happens to be raising money for the ISDE. This will be a fairly inexpensive ISDE to go to, but I figured my costs would have been $8K to $10K. Finland next year could be as much as $25K figuring airfare container fees and lodging.
Are they still trying to fill club team spots? I havent seen any final rosters yet, other than the Jr. Team is filled...Anybody got any info on this?
Big congrats and best of luck to your friend, Phoenix! Nicole is a really cool gal, and super smooth on a bike, and Kerrie should have a good time hanging around with her Don't know much about fundraising, but nobody can resist yet another moto shirt for their collection My very favorite T-shirt is my ISDE fundraiser tee from 1989 WoodsChick
I wondered if that had anything to do with it. Honestly, I'd have a hard time going there also. Like I said on another forum, if the drug dealers are smart they'll make sure the dirtbikers aren't messed with because there's a whole bunch of dope-smokin' dirtbikers in this world!
they've held WEC and world rally care events there recently w/o problems. i think there's way more realistic things to worry about.
One idea might be to put together some sort of media package and seek a corporate sponsor. Also might consider contacting a news channel that has a medium market share in the area and get them to do a story about the women's USA ISDE team. If the story was done in a manner that would generate interest in this sport and also solicit funds, there might be private donor/donors and or a corporate sponsor that might consider underwriting this. It would be a tax break as well as a great public relations tool for a corporation. Anyway, just something to consider.
