Picked up my 2014 Terra from Eurosport Asheville about 2 weeks ago. Still breaking it in but really enjoying the bike more and more every day. I was a little concerned about having a bike that is no longer in production but decided to go for it anyways. Very glad I did. It's a great fun bike. Went ahead and loaded it up with goodies. Here's where it is so far and my thoughts. I had trouble finding good pics of this setup on the bike online so I took a few to share. I was looking to build a smaller-ish Adventure touring bike on a budget. Thinking about possibly riding it to South America. We'll see.

    highlights include:
Touratech zega pro panniers (Really liking these. very well made. first bike with hard panniers and really enjoying the security and utility of these. I really don't notice they are back there while riding on road, I have yet to take them off road)
Excel Rims (stronger and lets face it the black just looks way better, The brand new stock spoke rims are for sale in the classifieds)
    SW Motech skid (very solid)
SW Motech on/offroad pegs (well made but poor fit on the Terra. lose fit. need to find a spacer or something to make it more solid, kind of disappointing)
    Touratech handguards
    crash bars
Alt rider rear brake cylinder guard
    Alt rider side stand foot
    Touratech headlight stone guard
Nomadic rack (fits with the touratech luggage system, just need to rearrange some of the included spacers to get the level right. Very nice rack. pleased with it as well.)
    Powerlet Powerbar plus RAM
touratech folding mirrors (these are just OK so far. mirror is small and not the best view. I'm still trying to figure out the best adjustment)
    3M SOLAS reflective tape

    not mounted yet:
    Protaper bars in black
    powermadd riser
    Garmin Montana GPS and hardwire
    radiator guard

    wish list:
    windshield
soft luggage system for the racks
    LED aux lights
    HID headlight
    chain and sprocket

Theres a man that does not let superficial crap in the way of problem solving when it comes to happiness planning. The trips you plan sound like hard going..all the better. This is a great tool for this and it deserves to be intelligently appointed. Maybe a Safari Tank for those extended rides of 800+km. $680 AUS from Oz.. No I dont work fo9r them..Just it seems a useful adjunct to Andy's plans.

Looks great Andy! Absolutely gorgeous! The Hindenburg MC is still riding on the weekends out here in Western NC. If you have some time on a Sunday let us know and we can show you some good twisties and some fun dirt/gravel roads.

As for your wish list, the TCI windshield is pricey, but looks like it might actually do the job. I have the Husky accessory windshield and it's just ok. You might also swap the handlebars before a big trip. I tweaked mine early on, and I know a number of people have found them a little too malleable. One guy posted that he bent them after hitting a big pothole/bump If I remember correctly:eek:

Keep us posted on your plans for South America. I dream of a ride like that, this summer is already too booked, and I think 2016 will be a trip out west to see the Grand Canyon and Moab, but I can dream. Just this weekend I was pondering a multi-day NC trip for this summer from Cape Hateras to Robbinsville (heavy on the dirt roads using GPS Kevin's Trans American Trail as a starting point). Once I get it all worked up I will post a thread with plans. Please do the same if you work out a South America trip.

yeah -- no kidding...wish I wouldn't have seen it! Kind of like the Tire Rack virtual garage site. I've spent too much time at that site.

Wheels are from touratech. For BMW 650 gs. Bolt right on. Selling the stockers to offset the cost.
Got a great deal on the bike just decided to bite the bullet and do it all at the beginning. In the end I think I ended up with a very capable brand new adv touring bike that I can enjoy for a while.

If I go to SA I'll leave in the next few weeks. Stay tuned.

Yeah I've been thinking about the safari tank. No more fuel worries. Of course one liter soda bottles work too (in SA not here) but just don't have the sex appeal. The nomadic rack has mounting points for rotopax. But I'm thinking I'd rather travel minimal and light and not carry too much stuff I don't need or use often. Still thinking...

That is one nice looking Terra! Those rims make quite a difference in making it look aggressive.

I too was going with the security of the Touratech panniers and ended up switching to the soft Adventure-Spec Magadan Panniers due to their security potential.

What do you think of them?

I have some relatives in South America. Still going? I am waiting for stuff to arrive for my bike, plus a Safari tank arrive in the next 4-6 weeks. Otherwise, I would go too!

I really like the magadans... I originally was looking for a BMW g650 x challenge to set up (colebatch style) but a clean one is like 5K. Not much more for a new Terra and it's a little more road friendly. I pondered the mags and the wolfman. Do you have pic of them on the bike? I'd love to get a sense of the size and fit.

Yeah, I need to start heading south pretty soon. Finishing up the bike and a few loose ends. Also been thinking about doing a cornerspin school before I leave. Or get a little more dirt training out west at a school like rawhyde. I think it would be a good warm up before leaving. Haven't done much dirt riding since I was a teenager.
