I’m going to try to keep this somewhat long story short. Back in November I decided to get in on the TE630 price reductions. I had been seriously interested in the 610/630 for quite a while, when I heard about the price drop on 630s I figured it was now or never. Found a TE630 at a dealer on the East coast and made a deal with them to purchase the bike and have it shipped to me here in Ohio. Fast forward a week or two and I get a message from the dealer. Seems my TE suffered an oil pump failure while they were prepping it to ship. They would need to contact Husky about how to proceed. Week or so goes by and he tells me that Husky has approved the repairs under warranty. We were getting into the holiday season, so getting parts from Husqvarna proved to be taking a while. Dealer reassured me that they were doing their best, I patiently waited. I kept in contact with the dealer over the next 2 months, progress with the bike was slow, please be patient. Spoke with the dealer yesterday. He lays the bad news on me. Severe problems with the bike, Husqvarna wants to reposess it and consider it a loss. Dealer has been trying to find me another one, but as you all know, there aren’t any. I did find a TE630 at a dealer on the west coast, however they are asking around $8500 for it. I am not willing to pay that for one now after so many of them sold in the $6000 - $6500 range. At that price I would rather buy a lightly used 2010 KTM 690. On top of all of that, I in my infinite wisdom, have purchase a pile of aftermarket parts from FMF, JD, Cycra, 7602, etc... for the TE630 in anticipation of it’s arrival. So I guess this is where all of you come in. Kind of a ‘what would you do’ situation. I am tempted to sell off all the aftermarket stuff I have and just go buy a KTM690 but I am trying to keep from doing something rash. I’m 3 months down the line of this attempted purchase and I guess my patience has worn out.
Did you already have a sales contract and put money down or pay for the bike in full? If No then I would drop it and start looking/waiting for a used one. If Yes then I would get the VIN from the dealer and write to Husky directly about your bike identifying it by VIN number and problems. Dealer might be feeding you a story as when supply got short these bikes got more desireable and maybe they sold it to another for more. _
All I can say mate is you have A LOT more patience than I would have had. Looks like you are being shafted and I hate to say it but I would probably also be seeing red ... ehhrr or orange
Thanks for the replies. No money changed hands on this bike, I offered to put down a deposit but the guy refused. Said 'consider it sold, it's yours'. It's a small shop on the east coast that gets positive reviews from members here. I honestly don't think he is trying to screw me over. As for being patient, yes it has been hard. Especially since we have had such a mild fall/winter here. Lots of good riding weather missed.
I would track down the Husqvarna regional rep and relate your story to him (already bought parts, etc). This will confirm if the dealer is making up their story. I can't imagine they're unable to fix a problem on a brand new bike. I'll bet they sold your bike. The rep works for BMW and I suspect will truly care about the customer experience with the brand. Maybe he can get the CA dealer to come off his... I agree, you've been very patient. They are awesome bikes though and I'd pursue it a little farther. .
I found a 'contact us' form on the Husky website, submitted a synopsis of my situation. We will see what they have to say.
I've used the Husky website contact twice. Once an inquiry about pending new dealers and once over a question about warranty service when no local dealer to visit. No acknowledgement or reply either time. Just goes into the Husky black hole I guess. _
You may want to try BMW Motorrad USA Customer service, below. Also try to reach Todd Andersen, Marketing Manager, BMW Motorrad USA. But don't. BMW owns Husky, but Husky is it's own business. Do NOT contact BMW about a problem with Husky. Contact Husky. Try a phone call.
Maybe this guy can suggest who to talk to. http://resmarket.com/husqvarna/10/10husq_ePR-konicke_v3.html
I'm not buying the dealer's story. What could have possibly gone wrong with the bike that they can't replace parts on it and get it to you? They have parts. What they don't have are complete bikes.
Since you did not put down at least a cash deposit, you did not have a contract for the dealer to sell you the bike. They probably sold it to someone else or lost interest in the offer they gave you. This is really a good thing, painful maybe; sell all the accessories and buy the KTM 690 Enduro; it is a far better bike.
If you like a gearbox that is SX bike tight... Are you lost?... OP never said if he did or did not put a deposit down
I was afraid of this so I made a call to the Husky customer service line yesterday after submitting the 'contact us' email form on the Husky site. Talked with a very nice person who assured me she would get my info to someone who could help. Time will tell on that one. Dealer supplied me with the VIN when we made our handshake agreement to purchase. I have supplied the VIN to Husky via the email tool and over the phone. I don't want to go there right now. It is an east coast dealer who gets stellar reviews from all I have contacted. I agree, and seem to remember reading a thread a while ago (on ADVrider maybe?) about a TE630 that suffered engine failure shortly after purchase. According to what I remember, Husky sent an entire replacement engine for the customer. See, now you go throw the temptation out there! I'm going to hang in here for a little longer to see how this plays out.
You must be lost. This is Cafe "Husky", and based on your statement, you obviously haven't ridden a TE630.
I wish you the best in getting the TE 630. Is the dealer close enough for you to drive to? Ohio to the east coast, probably not. If you don't hear back from Husky in just a day or two I would call another dealer(s) and try to get a better contact phone number from them. You have been very patient, I would chip away at it daily now untill you get your 630, you deserve it.
I don't see why they wouldn't repair it and sell it to you. They'd certainly lose less money doing than they they'll lose just scrapping the bike.
