I need new MX boots. Does anybody make a DS boot that provides the protection of MX boot? Anything to stay away from?

The ONLY "adventure" boot I wear that has what I believe is adequate protection is the Sidi Discovery. They really do not have any competition IMO.

That being said, I where my Alpinestars (full on MX boots) on almost every ride. I fit my feet on quite a bit of trash and we have oodles of rocks here.

Alpinestar Toucan. Watch Revzilla's video on the dual sport boots, they really like the Toucan over some of the other DS boots.

Gaerne balance oiled boots are overall nice. Fit great out of the box and waterproof too. You can actually walk in them unlike MX boots. I use full on MX boots(Greact) for the knarly stuff though.

I wear the Gaerne Balanced Oil boots, for trials riding and trail work. I wear Gaerne SG10's for serious riding. The hinged ankle makes it easier to walk in, but not like a trials boot.

I've got Alpinestars Tech 3 boots and they are very stiff and don't seem to be breaking in at all. They make shifting and braking very difficult. I'm thinking about replacing them with a pair of Gaerne trials boots. I'm just a casual trail rider, and the extra reinforcement of a full moto or endure boot seems a bit much.

I wear Sidi Crossfire SRS boots. Crazy expensive, but the most comfortable set of riding boots I have ever owned.

SG10's for me, I have been experimenting this year, but they fit me the best hands down. I like the looks of those Forma's too.

I've broken both ankles with the best boots money can buy due to over jumping a big jump one time and another time running over my face in the whoops. I use Gaerne 10s now, put them on and go race, absolutley no break in time and they are not too heavy, kinda cold tho standing on the ice all day, LOL.

Alpinestar Tech 8s are comfy with the inner booty but are very stiff.
My new Sidi Crossfire2 srs are about half as heavy and twice as flexible.

So which DS/Trail Riding boot has the thickest sole? Just in case a shorter rider would like to know. :D

Gaerne G-react is what I have. Comfortable and still allow some flex to shift.

Same boots I run but I just picked up the Balanced oiled boots for trail riding. Big difference. The G-react feels like tree stumps on the end of my legs. No feel at all.

SIDI Discovery is a really good product and you can walk in them comfortably.

These Formas look great, and at $300 the price is right as well. Does anybody here own/wear these? I've never used anything but MX boots, so this is uncharted territory. I'd like to keep the ankle support that MX boots provide. But these are really tempting. Lack of a local dealer in Nor Cal is a problem though. I really like to test fit boots.
