250-500cc Needle Speak

Does anyone know how to translate 4 digit needle codes (i.e., NALF) to the equivalent 3 digit Keihin codes? The needle is out of a KX250's PWK carb. The Keihin and Sudco charts don't address a 4 digit conversion.

hello! When i check in my papers they say that Keihin don´t supply any direct replacement needles for most Kawasaki models unfortunately. I have the papers of replacement needles but they don´t include needles with four digits like the one you mentioned. Sorry!

What i can see that should be a triple taper needle with a base diameter of 2,705mm, the same as a L-needle from Keihin.

That's about the only way to tell what a OE needle is, is to go to the owners manual of that bike. I know Yamaha and Kawasaki use the triple taper, along with some KTM. So, you have to go their manuals to decode.

The triples are nice, just a little harder to work with.
