anyone else have a neutral light with a mind of it's own? Sometimes it's on, sometimes it's off, sometimes it blinks. Any fixes for this?

My other issue is the bike killing on me, not funny. I did the first 30 minute break in and changed oil. I took it out today on a short trip to the bank and got stuck twice. Hmmmm...

Do you mean it stalls? And then won't start?

Yes, that's what I mean. I was going around 45mph and it stalled, then again at 35mph and stalled. The speedo doesn't seem to be very accurate either.

Certainly seems like an electrical issue. Since the bike is brand new, I'd trot it quick like a bunny back to the dealership and have them look at it. Sounds like it could be a warranty issue or maybe a simple fix of a loose connection or wire.

:thumbsdown:Bleh! My dealership is two miles from my house.
Maybe if you call your dealership and discuss the problem in detail, they could help you check some things.

I did that with an outboard. There were no dealerships around close that wanted to help me or work on the motor, so I called a dealer in Colorado and chatted about the problem with them on the phone. After a few minutes, they suggested a new powerpack (CDI unit). I went ahead and ordered it. When it was shipped to me, I bolted it up to the side of the powerhead, attached the wiring and away the motor went on both cylinders again.

My initial thoughts are - these 2 items may be related. It is possible that the 'gear indicator sensor' (near shift lever with 1 wire connected to it) may be not working correctly.

Or.... they could be 2 unrelated things. Try loosening the gas cap to let some air in, it could have a plugged vent hose. The one way valves that some with the bike on the vent hose are not the greatest, and you may have all the emissions stuff still on.

Or it could be an issue with the efi not being tuned... but I would start by loosening the gas cap cause that is easy, quick, and the most likely thing that might be happening.

Did you wash your bike lately?
Might be unrelated but some members were having troubles with turn signals also after washing their bike...

thanks Dean, I tried loosening the gas cap which I was hoping would be the fix but wasn't ;) I have taken the emission stuff off.

I think I have a bad wiring issue going on here. When troubleshooting I moved the bike slightly by grabbing the the handlebars facing the front of the bike, the bike made a funny noise and went dead...no battery. I grabbed the handlebars again (around the wiring) and it made the same noise and battery was back and it started. There has to be some short or bad wiring in there. This is frustrating! Would that mess up my EFI? This is my first bike with EFI so learning a bit here. Nearest dealer is almost 3 hours away so want to see what I can troubleshoot on my own before making the trek.

    I really appreciate the info!

    Excellent troubleshooting skills!

If it were me I'd examine the wiring closely then when I could not find anything wrong cuz my eyes are terrible, get out the schematic & voltmeter and start debugging. The trick is to keep the bike in a 'broken' configuration so the problem can be tracked down. Intermittent problems are the hardest to track down unfortunately.

Or.... just start wiggling wires till it breaks/works/breaks/works and you should find the problem area.

Pretty tough to say much more than that in a forum... too many combination's of possibilities.

I'm not sure how durable the EFI units are but they get beat up a lot by the riders and except for tuning issues I've not heard any problems.

Your neutral light flashing is the same as your "check engine" light on your car. When it flashes it means something is wrong.

The series of flashes indicates the problem. It needs to get hooked up to the I-Beat to diagnose the problem.

Dean...thanks for the troubleshooting thumbs up and all your help ;) I'm a fairly new rider and a brand new husky owner so trying here! My CRF230F has a lot less stuff on it to get messed up LOL!

ScottyR...thanks! The husky manual sucks! LOL =) I couldn't find any data on what a flashing light meant. I wish I would have noticed it at the dealer. I'm a bit disappointed that my brand spankin' new husky came to me faulty. The neutral light has been blinking since day 1...sigh.

I'd listen to Scotty on the neutral light issue. He is a dealer in Canada and works on them. It is still weird about the stalling, let us know what the issue was

    b) With the GEARBOX in NEUTRAL position: the warning light is
initially constantly ON then it FLASHES
TWICE IN RAPID SUCCESSION then returns to being constantly

Thanks to Keytime Motorsports my Husky is fixed and running well. They fixed the ground to short issue and installed a power up plug. Great guys, they have my future business. Thanks again for everyone who offered suggestions and helped me troubleshoot.
