Thanks for posting this! 200 is on hold..... I'm going to say a prayer tonight, that Walt can work his 165 magic, on the new 125 or 150 cylinder. New overall lighter bike and Estart should get you right back to weight of '15 125! I'm excited!

No mention of optional Estart on KTM 125/150SX model pages. Husky differentiates itself, by making it easy for older riders.... to start small bores! Cool!

Sure my TE125 is so easy to start, it's laughable.... except when I get crossed up and stall it on an off camber uphill and the down side is the left! I'm stoked!

I also wonder what they are doing with 250 motor - Id say quite a bit - being the bigger market

yeh its only when you are on a steep hill and area standing at side of bike that you need elec start

I've gotten spoiled by the Estart on my Husaberg TE250. Estart makes it all a little easier when you're vertically challenged, but it really shines in race situations... a touch of the button and you're on your way, with minimal time lost!

Old news maybe but I read the 2015 MX test and they said the ktm was a screamer but the Husky was bit down on power possibly due to restricted airbox design ?


They said the old YZ had the most useable power and handled best and hence won test

YZ125 is a good bike, but I'm liking button option on the '16 Husky. Some very personal stuff for me.... we ride some nasty off camber uphill/downhill stuff and the 125 works so much better than the 250 there. Especially nicer in the tight single track switchbacks. Button is more important to me, than a Rekluse at this point. TE125 has great mid-top power, I could hardly use more. I need more bottom in the same package.

Another point... new 125 has externally adjustable power valve. I use this feature on my 250, to the fullest.... If traction is great, I use red spring and less preload. If it's super nasty and no traction, I use green spring and lots of preload. A mix of conditions, I run yellow and set it in the middle. It only takes a few minutes to swap springs and way less to adjust preload. Much better than old style KTM 125 PV.

yeh I follow - its an enduro/trail package . An older YZ has some appeal to me though as an affordable second play bike and some MX with possibly a bigger trail bike -TE 450 for longer rides
After riding more rocky hilly trails I also need more bottom end now than am getting on the wr165 - possibly to make up for lack of skill .
Or I need to try some sticky tyres . I may look to go back to a smaller carb - I like the look of the 36mm KTM keihin carbs.
I may try adjusting power valve for more down low .
I had a rekluse on my WR and I didnt like it much at all.

The "One" light clutch looks like the choice of many over here in OZ on KTM 2 strokes - instead of a rekluse - would be nice on the TE 125

Will this have the same steering geometry as the KTM? Hope not but the last one did, right?

I came off '02 and '09 WR125's and I like the geometry of my '15 TE125. I not in love with it, on my '12 Husaberg TE250 though.

Other way round for me. I rode a 15 husky and it felt exactly like a KTM, twitchy at the front. I prefer my 09

It's extremely interesting, that while the new Husky has thrown Italian Husky period out the window historically... they embrace it stylistically! In a modern twist these bikes are totally early Italian Husky.... Graphics this year, are straight off an '89 Huskagiva WMX250. Flo yellow from a '94. Shrouds are very early 90's in shape. Big side number plates are pretty retro too.

yeah true norm each to their own. those big arse side plates arent rocking my boat tbh but I do like the new motor, weight loss & estart compatibility

Norman, I totally agree that its shrouds are straight from a husqiva, stripes straight from a swedish husky.... my only complaint is I cant ride yet and I wish the enduro bikes got the changes too.... but I will settle for a 125 first then and 501 later

Present TE125 geometry is good for me... I just rode a mix of super tight woods and farm fields that were WFO in 5th and 6th. Some were just picked sweet corn fields, that were super rough. Bike turns well in the tight woods and never shakes its head pinned across a rough field. I don't run a steering stabilizer, just run my steering head on the tight side. Suspension revalved, some bottoming cone mods, correct springs and sag settings. The bike never feels nervous to me....

I looked at the 16 KTM to see why it wasn't prepared for electric start, the case is cast but not machined. The external bolt holes are thread.
Everything else appears to be the same.
