So I ride and race a 14' WR300 and really like it...a lot! I run a FWW, FMF Gnarly, Lectron and a Rekluse. I'm probably 230lbs decked out and am a fast B rider. So I was presented the opportunity to own two bikes ( by my wife) with the stipulation that I keep both for 2 years haha. So I liked my big 570 berg I had but it just wasn't built for harescrambles so I started thinking about the 14' txc 310 do the suspension a rekluse and call it a day I'm looking at about $6800 give or take with all that. I got on to the WB165's and they look fun guys say they will make you a better rider and I want to be a better rider so I would be around $6000-$6200 by the time I bought the 125 165kit installed lectron did the suspension and got a larger gas tank. Then I found an 09 165 with newer top end and a little less new bottom end and could have it for somewhere around $4500 after suspension lectron and whatever other little things it may need.

My dilemma is I'm a tight wad for starts but will spend the dough if it's worth it, meaning I want the thing to run and not have to wrench on it needlessly or worry about reliability. I have first hand experience with the 300 and it's rock solid! I like the four stroke due to its ability to find traction and its near 125 Handeling which would be handy as a second race bike in tight hilly stuff, I watched a guy bounce one off the limiter all last season and never had to adjust the valves and never had a failure or DNF. I like the 165 due to its Handeling and lack of costly maintenance and I also like the idea that it could make me a better rider. I've ridden a couple kdx 200's and 220's that were converted into 125 frames and they didn't seem to give up a huge amount of power to the 300 on the very bottom but after that it was all over. Im so pleased with the 300 I have its actually hard for me to decide what other bike I would possibly want.

If anyone can talk some sence into me or point out something I'm mossing I'd sure appreciate it! Thanks.

The 310s are a great bike . You do need to do a lot to the 125 to bring it up to a similar level .
I had both at one stage but like playing with the 2 stroke and felt it was more relable . No electric issues . I prefer to ride the 165 but both are really fun. The 310 is a good all round bike.
The newer 125 feels smaller than the 300 this may or may not suit. I'd keep the 300 since its sorted and a bigger 4 stroke for something different and longer rides. Or change from the 300 to a 165 . I find having more than one bike can be hard work though - not necessarily a good thing
    This would be my 2c

Being a former owner of a 310 and a current owner of 165, the 165 will keep up in power terms. In woods, or wet conditions it's the 165. Summer fast flowing course the 310.

Already answered in our PM. Everyone needs a 165 in there life. The only question is how long will the WR300 last after getting the 165 :D

Yes, and thanks for the info! Been thinking hard about the whole deal!
Any reason why a new cr165 with large tank and an 18" rear would be a better bike than an 09' wr165 with a large tank?

Some feel the CR ignition is better but after the 165 kit it is hard to tell the difference. The WR has a lighting coil and kick stand. Both you will probably need to redo the suspension so thats a wash.

After riding each, the 300 will most likely go up for sale. Then you can buy both !
    Problem solved. Your Welcome!

Lol you certainly are a problem solver but while I'm dreaming I should just have all three!
