Sold my 14 fe350 and picked up this 15 fe501 yesterday.
Fitted most of my extra go fast bits and SSS forks. Still yet to fit a rekluse and left hand rear brake.
Can't wait to actually ride it!!

Big change with the suspension up front though the SSS forks probably the best there is. Nice looking machine.

removed the SSS forks today and put my modified 4cs back on, they will be staying on i'm pretty sure. They feel better than the 4cs.

Sorry but I'm a bit confused by your post. Could you clarify which forks you prefer better? Sss feel better but you removed them? Maybe I'm being a knucklehead and not understanding? My guess is you like the Sss but need to remove them for more setting adjustments?

I done some more testing yesterday with my 4cs forks back on.

the SSS forks work good with the settings i have in them, I have been amazed just how different these forks react to shim/float changes compared to other forks. They are firm and offer good bottoming control.

The 4CS are better/more plush on trail trash and LS but still blow through a little too quick on HS sharp edges. Probably need some changes to take into account the 2 port mid rather than the 4 port mid. However, all of that bone jaring/wrist breaking that they do stock is gone. With this in mind i'm using the race tech adjustable bases and G2r valve but also using the kreft mid valve with a 1mm bleed hole. I really think the 4cs forks will be much better than the SSS once the HS issue is sorted.

saying that, I revalved a mates 16 4cs forks the other day with nothing more than a shim shuffle and spring change, they were actually pretty damn good, both of us preferred those to the SSS on the day. I'm yet to test these back to back with mine to quantify the expense of the extra parts fitted to mine.

pretty sure I will be selling my SSS forks in the coming weeks, has been interesting but i think the 4CS forks are actually a better fork to ride and service.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I hear all the fanboy SSS talk and it's nice to hear some real time comparisons to well sorted 4CS forks. It sucked to shell out $800 to have MX-Tech do my 4CS but I definitely don't regret it now. Would I do it again??? Probably not, hence the new KTM 300 xc w sitting in my garage... The open chambers are great for my needs and so far the reworked PDS is awesome. My 300 revalve job was under $450 for the entire suspension INCLUDING new springs. Big difference from my 4CS/501 cost. Guess I'll just keep the 501 until it turns to dust to get my $ out of it. Good thing the 501 is a great bike:D

Enjoy your new bike, it looks great!

yeah is crazy what some guys are charging for 4cs revalves.

for some riders the SSS might be a better option but for MY riding/skills, weight etc I prefer the 4cs. The SSS are amazing in the way they react to shim changes, I had them at one stage a lot firmer than I liked but they gave unreal wheel feedback and just inspired you to ride faster and hit things without backing off, the 4cs don't do this as well. The 4cs excel at being soft/plush on trail trash and for ME as a trail rider this goes a long way.

I always sell my bikes stock so not a huge loss in the end
