Hi, I wanted to introduce myself and get to know some of you on this forum. I just picked up a leftover 09 610 yesterday. I live near some fantastic trails and forest service roads but my riding will probably be about 50/50. Most of my friends have KLR's but I wanted something a little lighter and more powerful but still able to hang with them on the road. I think I made the right choice. (nearly bought a KTM EXC 525 but after a test on the street I decided to get the Husky) My elevation is from 6000ft to 11 or 12000 ASL so my bike is down on power quite a bit. I ordered a LV slip and the lambda removal kit but I'm not sure how those things will work without some adjustments to the ECU. I pulled the kickstand off and will try to find a machine shop to modify it for me. I hate the separate key for the fuel tank! I'll need to find some secure way to stow it on the bike. (I don't want it flopping around on a key chain in the ignition) Anyway - hope to get to know some of you and learn more about this fantastic bike Chow
Check out Rick's page. He's in CO, maybe not so far from you. He documents a lot of the stuff on the 610 and what he's modified and why. A group of guys just finished a week long trip from Tecate to Cabo in Baja and quite a few of them were TE 610s and they all made it. http://www.rickramsey.net/TE610.htm
congrats on your 610. did you get it in Pueblo? just asking cause I was about to head down and look at a leftover--save me a trip if it's gone Nice bike.
Sorry, its in my garage now and it was the last one... I went up to Northern first and they didn't have one and cannot order any more for 09. So down to Pueblo I went. Nice guys down there and you can get a great deal on a KTM right now!!! They also have a great deal on a left-over new 08 SM! Glangston, thanks for the tip - I'll spend some time reading through that site!
Here's a good solution to that rediculous second key...throw it away. I've been rocking one of these for three yrs now, they're really nice. http://huskyspeed.com/
Congrats again, just got back from Pueblo seem like nice guys for sure. I looked at the sm but it is an 07 still good deal to be had, i'm partial to FI so I'll wait for the 630 and see how it does. My son has been wanting a SM and maybe with a wheel swap we can have 2 bikes in one. a few of us make a trip to copper canyon every march (spring break) you should come join us and break that thing in right
Wow that's a big trip. do you trailer to mexico or start from here? I understand about the FI. The fueling on this bike is outstanding, a ton better than the carbed bikes I tested. And with the altitude variations where we live it's a big plus. They didn't have a 690R did they? I asked and thought they were out of those
Yeah, I have been eyeballing that. I've zip-tied a carabinier under the seat to stow the gas key. I'll see how that works out for a while. If it's a hassle I'll go with the speed cap.
I received my LV slip-on and the power up kit from Halls today. I think they'll stay on the shelf for a while until I get some miles on the bike, that way I'll be able to tell what kind of change they make and if I like it. BTW fast shipping and very reasonable prices from Halls
I've been considering the LV & power up as well, so I'll be interested in your report once installed. I've read several threads about installing an exhaust and p/u, but I've yet to figure out if I'd have to take the bike to a dealer for a computer flash, i-Beat, or something. I've read conflicting reports. Did Halls give you any info on this? Is it supposed to run good with just the p/u kit?
According to the Husky's #1 authority (George @ Uptite Husqvarna) you should have over 600 miles before changing anything. And then after you make the changes and re program the bike (if done correct) you will not even think you are on the same bike. I and many others have followed his advise and are quite impressed with his results. Perhaps you could make it a road trip out west BTW Jeff at Halls is a wealth of knowledge also and has taken care of my parts needs with the best customer service money can buy.
You don't HAVE to have it iBeated after the PU, but USUALLY it will make it MUCH better. Especially if it's done by someone that has alot of experience with it. I ran my 610 with just George's slip-on from about 500 to 1,200 miles on the bike with no problems. A lil more spunk, a pop or two on decel every great once in awhile. Then George did the rest of the PU for me and IBeated it at about 1,200 miles and it REALLY woke it up..
Thank you, I did a search in this section of the forum and didn't find anything. I'll guess I'll have to learn the layout of the forum a little better
My bike is being shipped this week. Can't wait!! I rode a 610 with the Leo Vince and power -up kit. Will the power-up mod without the Leo Vince make a noticeable improvement? The Leo Vince was a bit too loud for me.
I have a Leo Vince with the quietest insert with the spark arrest-er and it's not that loud. I had them remap the fuel injection after the pipe was installed. I also have the Lambda sensor removal kit installed and the bike runs good. It's worth doing both to make the bike run the way it should.
Well unless you can send it back for full refund I say you get some break in miles on that puppy put it on and bring it to the tinker and we'll get it sound metered against my uptite and swap up for feel
