    Hi Everyone,
My name is Peet. I am new to the site and new to 2 strokes. Owned various 4 stroke Husqvarna enduro bikes but know very little about the left kicker 1982 XC 430 I bought last year. Intend to do a couple of races with the 2020 vintage MX Alberta club. The bike is in good shape except for the internals of the spark plug cap which have fallen apart. I tried to find a non-resistor spark plug cap but have been unsuccessful so got a NGK resistor cap that has 5 K-Ohm resistance. Can I use this with the Motoplat ignition or is there a chance that it will fry the ignition coil ? Advise much appreciated. If anyone has lube oil/grease related questions I may be able to help you.

It won’t fry the ignition but is not recommended. You will get a better spark without a resistor. Try eBay for a non resistor cap. Good bike!

Peet. Sounds like a good bike. I too am working on a 79 CR390, from Edmonton region (Fort Sask). Plus old Yamaha XT500. Funny. Not sure about vintage competition, but good luck with 430. I have witnessed husky dog from Edmonton competitive husky with his CR430 Edmonton Vet MX against modern bikes. He hangs right with modern machines. Good luck.
