125-200cc New on 2000 WR250

Hello guys.

I'm in the process of buying a Husky WR 250 from 2000.

It's in quite nice condition, low hour/mile.
It has a Keihin PWK38 carburetor and carbon reeds.

Is there anything that I should know about this model? Things to look out for etc.
(Husqvarna's is not very popular in Denmark, where I come from, so there is not a lot of info about this model)




I'm hoping to get a little more info about this model.

known to be durable long-lasting bikes the Cagiva built Italian Husqvarna WR250 and WR300. Since you already have the upgraded carburetor it should run really good now. If you do primarily trail riding you should get some new tires.

I owned a 02 CR250 Husky for 6 yrs (see avatar to the immediate left) ... Mine had the CR tranny ratios (you might have true WR ratios) and was bad-ass to the bone ... Nothing nice about the bike except that it never broke and always started easily. Never got beat by any other bike in about all riding except when my riding ability came up short ... Not sure who you are, but odds are, you'll never get all that bike has to give.

Looks like a well kept bike ... Its ~14 yrs old .... I've got a 08 WR 250 now .. Same engine (different FW and ignition curve ?) and frame pretty much with different front forks and maybe a different rear shock ... That's about all the changes made from the late 90s to the ~011 time frame where a Ducati electronic ignition was added that did not help the bike any. Bikes got a larger and different tank also ... These bikes have won at the highest levels of the extreme enduro racing also.

They are good bikes, if its not too expencive buy it, plenty of parts still available pistons from wossner conrods from pro x bearings from skf etc good work horse and a good handling chassis.
My only hate with all bikes is how wide the bars are i cut mine down to the width of my shoulders so arms down relaxed now raise them up and cut the bars to that distance, brilliant for woods not so good for mounting handguards as im small.
Plastics are cheap full sets from ufo are still around.
Check swingarm bearings even if your told they were done every other ride.
Check lower shock mount and upper shock mount bearings these are spherical and do wear.

Then enjoy a nice platform for woods thrashing.

P.s. Loc tight your kickstart nut on!

not sure about that swingarm decal, what is that sticking out the exhaust
the used good parts and had a decent build quality, a little maintenance and you should get years of service out of it

I have got a lot of good feedback.

I have had a few go's on it now, and I'm absolutely in love.. I'm new to this kind of riding, but danm it's fun!

I have already changed the tires for michelin s12 .... Much better.


The only thing I want, is to "pimp" it a little..
I'm thinking of buying a KTM EXC 450 '08 head-light mask and front fender in black, put the black tank-covers I have got on.
And to top it off; this decal-set, custom made to my KTM/Husky needs:





I would like another rear-fender as well. Like this one (but black):



BUT!!! Here is another question!

Does any of you guys have one of the bikes listed on the picture above?

If you have, would one of you care to take some pictures of the mounting-points on the rear-fender, so I can check that it fits my model before I order?

I'm not sure what I think of that jägermeister-decal to.. Maby a new one is on the way

The exhaust was a hose, so that the indicator wouldn't melt. It is gone now.
