I'm picking up a TE630 tomorrow. Where does everyone get their aftermarket parts? I tried looking up the Arrow and LV exhausts to get an idea of what they cost and I can't even find anyone that sells them. thanks
Various site sponsors, my dealer, etc. There's not a huge online shopping source for Husky stuff. Most of the time you have to send emails and/or make phone calls.
Hey all! Well I just finished setting my TE up today. here is a list of the goodies with links... FMF Q4-As quiet as stock, really. 45t rear sprocket, the stock gearing was way too tall for the 4x4 trails I often find myself on. Husqvarna P/U kit-All from from Halls Cycles. Talk to Jeff, he is very cool! http://www.halls-cycles.com/ JD tuner-Super easy install and easy to program. Call Norm, he is ultra cool and very helpful, super fast shipping http://koubalink.com/Husky 4 Stroke.html Rotopax storage pack and 1 gal can, 3.2gals goes fast at 40mpgs and the $800 safari tank is way too much. Affordable protection. http://www.driveonit.com/120511/Husqvarna-TE-630-2011 I am sure I missed something. So far the bike has 1500 miles of hard off road trails. I love this bike coming from a tricked out 05 KLR! So far the TE has done nothing but impressed me. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions…..
Thanks Capt. Those links are very useful as I'm in the same situation as Travis (OP). That FMF pipe looks like a good alternative to the LV. Is it really a single Can? If so, then I assume it's a full system. Where did you purchase it from? I'm curious as to what people are doing for other parts, like larger footpegs, luggage racks, taller handlebars, and aftermarket fuel tanks (e.g. Safari or IMS). Has anyone done a steering damper? I was riding in windy conditions on the highway yesterday and the weave/wobble was disconcerting.
Don't forget to upgrade the stock chain guide. CH site sponser BRP sells an excellent product. We have the black BRP guides on all our TE's. The stock one will bend up on you. Both mine did. edit: The Husky part numbers show that the 7602 clutch slave piston will work on the 630's. That is a must do upgrade I still need to do myself.
Hey there! The FMF Q4 is a single and it came with a mid pipe and the silencer. The two Husky header pipes remain. I got it from Halls. I also got Pivot Pegs. So far they are pretty nice. The only downside i see right off it they seem to require some servicing rather regularly. http://www.pivotpegz.net/
Thanks again. I took a closer look at the exhaust and sure enough the mid pipe is seperate from the header. For some reason i thought it was one piece. I'll contact Halls tomorrow to order.
Capt Did the lower link mount up without any filing on the swing arm or rear shock spring? Also did it change the compression ratio of the rear shock from stock and did it drop it at least 1"? Did you drop the forks in the triple clamps too? Any more photos of your hand guards?
Hey! Yes the shock clears the swing arm by a very close margin. I also lowered the front forks to the second line, about ½” inch as per the instructions. I have attached some pics for you to look at.
Oh sorry, Yes it did drop about an inch. The sag is set at 3". I went out and did some stuff which compressed the suspension and nothing dragged or rubbed.
Great info. Thanks. Any idea how much weight you dropped by switching to the FMF? Also, what is the deal with the subframe? I read on this site somewhere that people were concerned about its strength because it is composite/plastic. The one on my bike is definitely metal.
I lost 22 lbs. My scale is little off, so reports of 24lbs could be true. The KTMs have plastic sub frames, ours are metal. My buddies nnew KTM LC4 also has the fuel cell incorporated into the plastic subframe! I have read of some TE 610s with cracking issues. Coming from a KLR, I am very aware of weak subframes and I am watching mine closely because I am sporting the rack with the Rotopaxs.
The subframe is different on the 630. Looking at the parts diagram, the lower mounts and tail section look stronger. Hopefully they have eliminated the cracking issues. Have not heard if any cracking issues with the 630 and there are a few around with panniers and such hanging off the back.
I rode 2000 miles over 5 days with a stuffed Giant Loop Coyote on the back and didn't have any problems. It even had 15-20 lbs of tools riding just behind the seat.
