I just traded in my Honda CRF250L for a 2014 Terra on Friday. What a giant leap in power this was. I'm going to be mainly using it as a commuter. I drive 17 miles each way to work. I do live in the desert and there are a lot of trails by my house so I will be taking advantage of its off-road capabilities as well.
Glad you got it, might be one of the last ones in the area. Make sure you get the pre filter or fix the airbox.
Look through the database here: http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=24352468&postcount=4293 The airbox is not a good design. As Magoo said above you should make it a priority to do one of the air box/filter mods. Especially if you ride in the desert. Don't hesitate, procrastinate or otherwise doubt doing one of the mods. If you do you will be rebuilding the top end quickly. Just sayin Oh, and welcome to the fold.
That is the material I was talking about, but not location. You would custom trim a piece and put it in the snorkle part of the intake, right at the very front of the red plastic. In this photo, the stock air filter is removed, and I use this for the pod mod filter as a pre filter and to quiet the intake noise. Some have just stuffed a piece of oiled foam infront of the stock filter. That would be the absolute minimal fix. The airbox has a leak just inside and draws dirty air in the non properly sealed section of the airbox, just behind the stock filter inlet. Bookmark this page for reference also, http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=22878722&postcount=2077 and the one Dr Z posted. If you scroll down a bit, you will find the intake and air filter sections. Lots and lots of reading. Thanks Charlie, wonderful work in progress.
LOL I could just imagine buying the bike and realizing the air filter mod needs to be done immediately because I live in the desert. Glad I ride paved roads 99% of the time bought me some more time to get it down since I ride everyday as well. But solid advice.
Yah, I'm not thrilled about cutting up the airbox on my bike with 100 miles on it. Oh well, I knew what I was getting into by getting this bike. It has its flaws, but I think that the positives more than out-weigh the negatives.
Does everybody get this message when they post something? This message is awaiting moderator approval, and is invisible to normal visitors.
Yeah, I can't see this, so I don't know how to reply. May be that you can only post one or two then have to be approved for more, until you are a trusted poster. I think it may have done that to me a year ago.
Was the message in the classifieds section? I have not posted there but seen you have and it does say it needs to be approved?
I get the message even here in the TR650 section. It's kind of a bummer to post something, and then not see it active for a day.
