Hey guys. Right now I'm riding Red after getting rid of my '05 TE450 (which I loved). I already have a 650R and L for dual sporting but the new TE's really got me thinking of coming back! Damn Husky's just look soooo good.

Anywho's I'm trying to get a feel for how they'd be on the street (what little time they'd see anyway). Can anyone tell me what the 450 or 510 would be spinning (rpm wise) at say...60 mph? AND is the stock gearing any good for offroad stuff, especially east coast type stuff? Thanks for your thoughts.

Not sure what the revs are exactly, but the 08 TE450 has treated me right on the trails as well as on the street. If you want a do all bike to include long road rides and highway usage, the 450 will show limitations. I can't speak from experience for the 510, but sometimes think I should have gone with that to open up my road speed & comfort. Then I usually decide I will get a 610 so I have the two perfect choices for what I feel like doing on a given day.

The beast will give you a pretty good buzz (engine vibe) on the road at those RPM's (5-6K) with stock gearing and you'll probably want to throw some weight opposite the rimlocks to tame the wheel hop that is noticeable from about 50+. Should be no problem doing it though if it's short hops. I'm planning on riding mine 6 miles each way to/from work with max speeds of 50 mph. Probably go through the knobs pretty quick but that's ok, they'll make more! Another noticeable "feature" on asphalt is the plank of a seat. It just seems to magnify every vibe in the bike right up through the butt. Don't really notice any of the above things once off the road and in the sh$t. Don't know about "East Coast" ride-ability, but someone here will be able to. HTH
