My understanding is that the EFI is Euro models only (and maybe Aussie) and is an emissions requirement and not a performance gain. The USA models will all have carburetors and they won't build them until all the FI bikes are built. I would have had to wait until February to get a 2019. I bought a leftover 2017 300en and so far I'm liking it. I would have liked to have a e-start but 2 strokes are easy to start and I'm ok with kicking it to have a lighter simpler bike.
MX250/300 staying carb down here apparantly. Enduro models EFI. Still big developments for them. No mention of a 6 speed though!
First US models ship next week, so we should see them about a month from now. Estart (and kick) as well as six-speed trannies, but fighting off efi for as long as we can. Some other very cool changes that are still under wraps.
I spoke with the NZ Tm importer a few days back, the new enduro 2st injection 300 is due here in December around $16000 NZ, cant wait to ride one
I rode my 300en today for 3 good hours of single track in a poker run and had a blast. I rode with the guy who bought my 09 WR250 Husky. I had just finished helping him service the forks and shock and spring it for his weight and he was riding it pretty good. After a couple hours we switched bikes and he was immediately faster on my TM... he complained when we traded bikes back saying that I've caused him to spend more money on dirt bikes than he ever imagined he would spend.. lol what are friends for.
These are pretty big changes for the TM two strokes, I like the 6 speed transmission, but I don't like EFI nor Oil injection, (I don't even like electric start but that's just me) I fear EFI and oil injection because it's often more delicate, fuel pump, sensors, etc... I suppose that in the longer run, say a few years of abuse it will probably give you problems that are expensive to fix. Oil injection is pretty much the same, I don't trust that oil pump and I prefer to premix. ... well, maybe I'm just getting old
