Well my youngest son had to have this. 14 Yamaha fz 9, has 2000 miles on it. Full yosh exhaust asv levers yosh fender eliminator Ricky Carmichael pro taper bars and a few other farkles. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet since he won't get off it. Super light numbers say 115 hp and 65tq should be a fun ride. Anyone else have any experience with one of these?
A buddy has a '15. They are nice machines. Fun to ride. The suspension doesn't seem very well sorted, but it is good to a point. When we leave a stop light hard on the gas, his FZ09 starts to power wheelie (which looks cool) until my 16 year old cbr600 passes him without lifting a wheel. The FZ's soft rear suspension gives you a false sense of it being super fast. The fueling is decent, but seems a bit wild - which also makes the bike seem crazier than it really is. For the $$$, the FZ09 is a good platform to build on. If I owned one, the shock and forks would get attention asap. The suspension on my 2000 CBR600 has never been serviced (yep) and it seems better than what is on the FZ09.
Ok got to ride it today, very fun bike power wheelies thru second gear. Suspension is very soft front and rear a little floatie. It is fast and corners like a sm. It feels so light but the seat is a bit hard. For $5600 for a 14 with only 2000 miles with the extra parts I think was a deal. Great bike to run around on nimble turns sharp would be a great daily commuter. Freeway speeds are easy and the price point is great especially compared to bikes out there...like $12k for almost any new bike.
Nice! I have read that a zx6r rear shock bolts in and is an improvement. The fz09 forum has a bunch of info. I'm hoping to find a lightly crashed one for myself soon...
I've hot a 15 tracer. Same motor frame suspension and brakes. Different seat subframe fairings traction control etc. Great bike although agree the suspension isn't prefect out of the box. Mine was way too hard but the clickers have fixed that heaps. Tonnes of power for the light weight machine.
