I have been out of riding for about 15 years, now my son wants to ride & has just got a well looked after 07 te 250 he is 13 , i rode it & thought it went well but a bit revvy, he wants me to go riding with him , so here is my questions , i'm thinking something like a 450 0r 510( secondhand 3-4 years old) i like bikes with low down grunt so i don't have keep changing gears every second, good for trail rides i weigh 105kg , i have read about overheating, stalling & power ups etc so any advice on good year model & maintenance & anything that would make a great grunty trail riding bike, i was told a husaberg570 was a great trail bike but i like husky's
    thanks phil

why not 2 stroke bike? way easier to ride on trails. 450 and 510 are pretty big bikes for trail riding. I had 510 and it was too tiring.

The type of bike that is good for you will depend on what you want to ride it in. Do you ride in - sand - tight gnarly single track- rocks-mud-hills- whoops ? To me that is what would help me make my decision. I know I'm not gonna wanna lug a big heavy bike in the tight stuff or the sand whoops we ride in. If I were out on logging roads or nice open flowing trails, I'd ride a bigger bike. But that is just me and my humble opinion.[IMG]

    Thanks Guys,
No offence intended Ks9mm but i'm definitely a 4 stroke guy,had 2 strokes when i was young not any more,
i doubt i would be riding much tight stuff or sand mostly on my friend property 2nd 3rd gear stuff feww steep climbs, plus maybe some club days grass track , enduro, etc. If ther was very tight stuff i probably wouldn't ride , i'm really only riding for my son, i can already feel the pain!! .i should mention the last bike i owned was 1995 te 610 & i loved it

Huskies are not prone to overheating, make sure you have a top shelf coolant. As an aside I ride a 310, amd 120 Kgs stripped and ride in Australia in the Summer up snotty hills and never had an issue-can't say the same for Husa's or KTMs I ride with.
Probably a 450 is good for you. I would recommend 2 extra teeth on the rear sprocket.
The 450 spools up faster than the 510 due to its 7mm shorter stroke.

I now ride a 310 as I mostly ride tight single stuff. If I were more 50% single and 5% fire trail it would be a 450. I have had the 510, 2x45's0 and 2x 310's and they are all great bikes and simply horses for courses. That said the 450 is a great compromise.
