    Hi all,
Name is Mike and I live in Colorado. Been a lurker for a while and have been looking hard or a suitable DS more off rode worthy than my KLR's. I have been looking at a KTM 690 enduro R new ($8700) and an 09 Te610 (7500 OTD). I take several trips to Mexico a year, Copper Canyon every Spring, KLR is okay and never had problem but I do stress it in the dirt and it has seen single rack (handful).

I know this site is biased but is 7500 tax included a decent price on new 09 with the 630 coming out?

BTW I am not afraid of owning an Italian with little dealer support, I also ride a Guzzi, and do my own wrenching.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Hi Mike! Welcome to Cafe Husky!

I'm not sure if we are biased, many of us own several brands. Although a the moment I've only have 1 bike, I've had many others of several brands. Woodschick has gas gas, suzuki, ktm, honda, husky...

I had an old klr250 and can understand, even the smaller klr, can be a bit heavy on the trails.

Anyway it is my understanding that only about 100 TE610s were brought to to usa in 2009 so that may affect the pricing. In addition, reports and further information will be forthcoming about the new 630 soon. They are going to officially announce it at the Indy show which will wrap up on Sunday. You may want to wait a week before deciding.

Hey Mike, I made the same move last year once I found out the 09's were the same as the 08's. And while I've got some of the KLR cheapness in my blood if you can wait for the 11's (I think the 630's will be 2011 with no 2010 produced) there may be leverage to get a lower price............. the risk being someone else will grab it.

So the value call is just that, will it be worth the 7400+ that you'll sink into it. Already having one I think yes :busted:

Also I'm curious as to which dealer you're looking at for support? I bought mine figuring on having no dealer support besides the internet............ personally don't trust the loveland shop, if something major happened that I couldn't deal with I'd pull the motor and ship first. If you haven't gotten to ride one just yet there's a few in the denver area including mine you could likely borrow for a day ride.

mtne thanks for the very generous offer. The dealer is in Pueblo, I'm in Manitou Springs. I will go by today with 7K and see if he will part with it. The dealer has also agreed to let me put a few of my bikes on his floor for consignment at a 7% commission vs his normal 15%. I'll try craigs first but not having to deal with lookie lou's maybe worth 7%.
Is your reliability as good as I have read..Really seems like a very dependable bike with good off road manners.
Headed out the door now to go look..thanks again mtne and Dean..

    Hi Mike,

Well, I pulled that one out from under you. (sorry about that).
I didn't beat the dealer up as hard as your were planning to but I don't feel bad,
they are hurting right now and I'd rather see them make through this recession than fold up like so many others have. ;)

I hate to say it but I think I grabbed the last one on the front range.
Let us know what happens for you.

Also remember, the word is that the new TE630 will be in the $9000 range

Hey, no problem I am still on the fence and I agree a lot of dealers are in a jam, so I will not haggle to hard:) the 07 sm may fit the bill for me and we came to an agreeable price just looking into the viability of putting on some offroad wheels. The 690 enduro r is very nice also, but I think the 630 may be its waterloo. Anyway, congrats and hope to see you on the trail:cheers:

I am dealing with a dealer right now in HI that is now quoting me $8700 OTD. If he tomorrow told me 7500, I would simply ask where to sing.
