Ok guys well i will just start with i'm new here and just replaced my drz with a new 09 610 and am loving the thing. I picked up the plug to get rid of the o2 sensor and the plug to close that circuit is there anything else i need to to besides take that out and what not. Does the comp need to be messed with and what i guess does the power up kit consist of or what are the must have upgrades right away? Thanks for all your input and advice in advance am looking forward to getting to know this bike has been fun so far.
Just de catt the pipe and you will have a cooler smoother running awesome bike Upgrades are a plenty on the Forum and some great threads explaining this by very knowledgeable memebers ---just do a search and you are on your way --
so will it hurt anything to get rid of that 02 sensor? Thanks and im assuming i just keep searching in this forumn the 610/630 board...
The O2 power kit is a must on a 610 -- the pipes are also lousy stock --i did post a section as to decatting the stock one -cheap and works well --if Money is a problem in these times we find ourselves. I was lucky to get a Arrow one new at cost ---came with the PU kit
I have a '08 and I did everything you did and added a Leo VInce slip-on muffler and it rocks. You can pick one up for around $350 or less.
ok well i have the plug for the o2 sensor and the plug to put in the wiring end will do that tom i was having trouble finding how a person removes the cat from the stock exhaust if someone has the link to the thread handy i would really appreciate it how did you guys clean up the tail section if you did thanks again for the help guys
Hope this helps-- Seems that the 610's are easy to get to run like they should --and inexpensive imho- http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/de-catting-a-std-09-610.16972/
I visited the Leo web site and i saw it has two model for the 610 (enduro - MX supermoto)Are there any significant differencies among the two?I have a TE610 but i like the MX supermoto pipe....Is it ok to fit this pipe instead of the enduro?
So, from what I've read thus far online, essential SM 610 upgrades are: 1) Remove the O2 sensor. 2) Install a power up kit. 3) Remove the core of the stock exhaust or replace the exhaust with an aftermarket exhaust [i.e. LeoVince]. I found the stock exhaust mods and pictorial, but it looks "exhausting" [pun]. Nonetheless, hats off to Blazes for doing that. Could someone post links of the tutorials for the O2 sensor mod and the power up kit mod?
I'd call them and ask. I put the X3 94db INSERT into my pipe to make it street legal. It still has a nice Brapp sound, but not enough to get you pulled over all the time.
Mine came with three inserts and I told the dealer to put in the quietest one. I rode it yesterday and it has plenty of power and a nice Brapp sound, but it's quiet enough that the Po-Po don't even give me a second look.
Got a brand new 2009 SM610 this week. Took it for a few spins. The power is more than enough right out of the box. I don't see a need for any upgrades or tuning mentioned here. The bike is very fast through third. Haven't had a chance to get much beyond that, cos' I have yet to get the bike plated. So, short quarter mile runs, if that. Nonetheless, I expect that 4th through 6th will be just as powerful. So, I don't know, maybe I got lucky or maybe the US models are different? Also, this is my first bike as an adult, so maybe that's part of my perspective as well. I don't mean to dismiss others experience, however, the performance of mine is coconuts right out of the crate. Hope this helps someone else who may be on the fence. Get a SM610. You won't be sorry. [Flame suit is on]
It's hard to say exactly. Your dealer may have already done the mods, or the US bikes may be different. But a friend and I traded bikes and I thought his was broken and he couldn't believe how much more power mine had. They are totally different bikes. Drop a gear or two, and it's not power through third, it's third gear wheelies whenever you want.
@ xvmotic: Thanks for the feedback. I feel fortunate to have discovered this bike after contemplating many others. So far, the only negative is the stock seat. As you mentioned/suggested, lot's are going up a tooth or two on either the front or rear sprocket. Thing is, I might have to stick with stock gearing b/c I need the bike for my commute to work. Each way, the highway is at least 20 mins of my 35 min commute. So, the bike needs to be able to run at a low RPM while cruising at 75 MPH for 20 to 25 mins each way. Nonetheless, after I ride awhile and get it all sorted, I might want a little more torque down low. Having said that, which sprocket, how many teeth, which chain and how many links?
If you want a more freeway friendly bike go with a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket and a 114 link chain. I went with a 114 link D.I.D. 520VM Gold X'ring Sealed Street/Off-Road Chain - see first link below, and a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket - see second link below. Your bike will be able to cruise the freeway a lot better and still have enought low end to pull power wheelies in second gear. http://www.sprocketcenter.com/p/246040/did-520-vm-gold-xring-sealed-chain-.html http://www.sprocketcenter.com/p/739...-steel-countershaft-sprocket---husqvarna.html
Um... Why? Why does it need to be 'low' when the bike works perfectly well at high RPM? I went down to a 14 in front and up a couple in back. The thing is ridiculous. I mean, it's really obnoxious. It still cruises at 75-90 at will. though not at 'low' RPM... but still perfectly 'reasonable' if you can use that term here. the only thing it can't do is keep the front wheel on the ground. When I rode around with a bud, I LEFT his ass everywhere up to about 85. at 90 or 100 he'd reel me back in, but honestly do you need to go that fast?
I've been thinking about going with a 14 tooth in front for the wheelie fun factor. I almost never ride on the freeway anymore, but I love to pop wheelies. I'm going to leave the rear sprocket stock, but it should still be fun to try. If I don'y like it, it's only a fifteen minute job to change it back. So you recommemd the 14 tooth sprocket?
For you guys that want to change gearing you might want to take a peek here....http://www.gearingcommander.com/
Well, no. Not if you wanna keep your license :-) My Mileage sucks, but my bike still sees freeway every day and honestly it's fine.
