i bought a chain slider for 130 ish as i was told it wore well and was best of the bunch.... wear has shocked me that it has worn 2 ruts in 60 miles approx as it was so expensive ... and to add insult to injury, i found this earlier while browsing here !! zip ty use tm and sell that slider for half the price of TM !!! wtf ? :banghead: not amused, i hope ive missed something or i am dreaming but that sucks ! no one to blame but myself for not looking elsewhere.. :p

Wow...I'd be a little upset, too, if my new expensive part wasn't performing as expected. If it were me, I'd probably give TM Designs a call and discuss it with them. Perhaps they'll make good on a replacement or a refund for you.

to be fair, it rutted a little but very noticeably after only 2 miles round the block ! but a mate says they wear a fair bit and then seem to stop... but this and the fact that another company can offer their product at half price is nothing short of disgusting really ! or am i over-reacting to the price thing ?

The wear should slow or stop once the side plates groove in and the rollers start to ride on the center ridge.

$130 is an awful high price for that item. That's about what you should have paid if you got the swingarm slider with it.

I would think wear in is common and should stop or slow way down after the initial getting to know you. Call them and get the rest of your overcharge back.

The original is a beauty in my opinion as it can be bent back into shape after a crash. They are also lighter. I believe the MXers still keep them on for those reasons.

Only guessing here, but I think we're comparing 130 Aussie dollars versus US dollars. US dollars would be roughly half.

The aussie dollar has gained a lot of strength against the american dolar in the last 6 months. GHR honda most likely bought a huge load of chain sliders 6-8 months ago when the aussie dollar wasn't as strong, and they set their pricing based on the exchange rate at that time. Now that the aussie dollar has gained strength it would seem that the price in OZ would fall also. But since the sliders were bought at a different exchange rate, if they were to lower the price to match current exchange rates, they would end up losing money. It sucks, but it's one of those things we can't control.

Also my TM chain slider wore very quickly for the first few rides, just like yours did, but hasn't worn a noticible ammount in the last 10-11 months.

I RECKON YOU ARE RIGHT9but exchange hasnt been that bad in six months to warrant double !).. AND I WILL AMMEND THE DETAIL/HEADING AS I AM MORE PISSED OFF AT THE RETAILER THAN THE MANUFACTURER REALLY.. (damn caps lock..sorry)...

i had hoped that tm had a control on their product pricing but we'll see, ive emailed my concerns to both parties. probably peeing into the wind but we'll see ! i actually want the arm slider and rollers too but not at ghr/dirtbike.com.au pricing ! thats for sure !!! they probably had big windows and seen me coming !
