Where are you at for jetting with the stock carb? I will admit if there is one thing i really suck at...its gotta be carbs.

    Mine is an 09 wr125.

in socal near the water the air here is fairly dense in spots. my starting baseline was

AS- stock w/ a tweak here or there
    PJ- 32.5
    N- #3
    M- 460

too lean for sustained w/o with a small hitch on roll on from mid speed circuit to main circuit.

    current-

    AS- 1.5 -2 out
    PJ- 32.5
    N- #4
    M- 480

oil- motul 710 2t 50:1, almost no smoke and little if any drool.

this works from 3000' to 6000' . it's clean and crisp enough in lock to lock ugly stuff and after long decents w/o being too lean for long open uphill stuff. hi dez i use 490 main, low dez 500 main.

    ymmv

search "how a carburetor works" for a visual of the circuity...it's in the efi/carb section.

Awesome thanks so much. I've been searching all over for a good carb how to and it was here all along.

Ok it seems to be getting close...I just have a bit of a stutter before it gets into the power valve. Im running Walts springs that open the PV at 6200 ish, and it feels almost like hitting a rev limiter until I crack the throttle open a bit more. This is between 1/8 and 1/4 throttle. I am going to go play with the air screw. But would what im describing be a rich or lean condition?

Im new to 2 strokes too....:D

    1/8 - 1/4

    how's your off idle response?

if it falls on it's face try 1/4 turn in on the AS to fatten it up.

then retry. if turning the screw in helps try raising the needle one tick to richen to make a smoother tranny from one circuit to another.

i dont know our baseline so im guessing here...
