Has anyone fitted a shut-off valve to that stupid, little afterthought of a drain-block right above the exhaust header? Not having encountered the need yet (the bike is still unregistered 3 months after purchase, with a whopping 3 miles/ 5k's on the clock), but setting up for long-term home maintenance, I tripped over that absurd "thing" to drain the engine oil. That " oh shit, we forgot to put a drain plug into the system" block of metal with the drain-screw, exactly above the elbow of the exhaust header. Has anyone tried to fit a shut-off valve/ cock-stop to this thing to allow for a temporary service-connection of a rubber-hose or something to drain the oil quickly and without any of the bloody mess that just HAS to happen when draining it out of that stupid drain-block? Checking the drain-plug, it appears to be a metric 10mm straight thread (not tapered, like many plumbing/compressed air/ hydraulic fittings). The thread spacing is 1mm. Looking at this 10x1, it appears like some thread found on air compressors (also Italian), possibly brake-line fittings on Euro-cars, steam gauges etc... If something could be found there, it'd be possible to source/ make a brass- adapter to convert to BSP or SAE threads, allowing the use of 1/4" sized stop-cocks/ shut-off valves with a S/S ball and Teflon seals good to ~180C, which should be enough for our purpose. Just imagine threading on a rubber line, open the valve and the old oil flows down a 2ft. hose into a catch-tray, neat and clean, no fuss. I'll be hunting on Monday....unless you guys have already got that done and dusted ages ago. Something like this with a 10x1mm thread on one side: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5-x-Full...ial_Industrial_Supply_MRO&hash=item1e86978806

Glitch, I am sure you will have seen my post in the thread below, works well, easy to find parts. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/oil-change-drama.30550/page-6#post-396852
A Huge Thanks. It sure answers all the questions and offers a material list as well. Geez, you guys are organized. No bloody amateurs around here
