Read just about every thread so far Here and at ADV No one seems to mention how close the oil feed pipe in top behind the cylinder almost Or is touching the header. This stuff bothers me more than a leaky airbox ... ;(
Hey Rapid. Which pipe is worrying you? The one with the little plug that runs from the fill cap down? It has a small inline drain plug that uses a hex, on the left (non throttle side) of the bike? Is that the one? I've not had any issues with it, but one could easily relocate it if that's the one in question.
If no-one has mentioned it after 4+ years in the wild and probably several million km in total by owners on forums, and various other issues have been identified and worked around, then the oil pipe is probably not worth worrying about.
It's the black one on the top of the crankcase behind the cylinder, with a hex cap/nut, right where the exhaust bends inboard and then outboard. The header looks like it's actually touching the oil line. Just seems like some thoughtless engineering, but hey, i'm nitpicky...
this one? The steel pipes shouldn't touch the engine as they are fixed in place with brackets but the rubber hoses do touch the engine. Never saw an issue with this though.
I dismantled that pipe when I did my engine rebuild. There were no indications of damage to either of those hoses.
