Hi, It was an awesome day for bike riding yesterday (dont get many sunny days in Auckland) and my son and decided to take advantage of the awesome weather and go out for a quick spin through the mountains. He was on his TR650 Terra and I was on my Strada. Anyway about half an hour into the ride I noticed fine droplets on my visor and looked up to see if there wasn't a lone cloud in the sky.....but nothing, and no-one seemed to be using sprinklers in their gardens either. Puzzled by not being able to find the source of the fine droplets I continued riding, wiping them periodically from my visor with my clove. Anyway this continued for about another 5kms. Eventually I looked down to see oil spewing from my oil filler cap and running down the frame. We stopped alongside the road and I opened up the cap to inspect the oil. It seemed to be very thin and foamy. We immediately cancelled the ride and returned home. The bike temperature was normal on the route back home. I wanted to know if anyone has had similar issues and managed to find the root cause. I did remove the air filter when I got home to see if that was contaminated with oil, but it seemed ok. Any help or guidance in pointing me to a previous thread would be helpful. Thanks Rod
Read this thread. This is another one of those parts that saved Husky 20 cents, but cause us owners grief. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/cheaper-oil-fill-plug-alternative.51258/#post-467403
certainly not normal but it really only can mean that either the dip stick was not fully screwed in (or cross threaded) or the O-ring is damaged. Should be easy to find out. I can't imagine that the dip stick is cracked or even the filler neck but worth checking too.
