Very nice! I certainly don't know everything - what is the bike brand with the wings coming out of the "M"? Maico?
Great photos in that set, Bad Brad, Roger D and other legends. I remember the Shadow Glen track at Indian Dunes in So Cal. That was a fun track! Some of those pics look like they were taken there.
Randsubrg, EL Mirage, Kernville, Lockwood Valley, I think Mt. Baldy too! Epic stuff Rob...wow. From a time when there were no excuses or sniveling and peep's really wanted to ride. Thank you. -k.
Both are so cool, but this one; this one is MOTOCROSS to me. That's when I was ate up with it and I can remember so much of that from looking at those pictures. I think I remember that better than I can remember what happened last year. Thanks for sharing guys.
No, it's actually a 1973 125 Maico with a handbuilt aluminum airbox to go with the frame and shock mods. It also had a hand rolled up-pipe and a custom extra thick seat foam that I got out of some other bike (a Kawasaki, I think) because the stock seat was more uncomfortable than even my TE's saddle, but more comfortable than the one on my KTM.
Never rode the desert when I was a kid, in the early 70's my dad was a patrol at Escape Country, later it became Racing World. It was out where Cota De Coza is now in So.Cal. We also used to go to Saddleback and Corona raceways. When they had the Pro races at Saddleback we used to ride our bicycles in thru the dump that was next to Saddleback. Oh the days of Schwinn Stingrays..
Holy Krap!! How did I miss this post?? Excellent stuff, DirtDame! Dig the quilted leathers, too! Your Humble Admirer, WoodsChick
