Was just chatting with a friend and dug this older picture up of me. 10 years ago on my 99 WR250 I bought new from Bills and note the WER sticker on the forks. Small world, they did my forks and shock for me. I am on my way to a 3rd place finish out of like 54 in my class. That was a great bike. Stone reliable and fast / fun / comfy. about 30 in my class DNF'ed as it was a LONG race (Idaho City IDSE Qualifier) and HOT. People had a lot of bike and hydration issues. I remember drinking my camelback by second of 6 checks and getting worried, luckily they were smart enough to be dumping water for everyone at stops. I also remember coming into on check and a gal tossing a pale of water on me, I was like WTF??? then she apologized thinking I was her husband after realizing I was not on a Suzuki. I thanked her and rode on.
Actually it is on the CORRECT side for oiling your chain (via 2st dripage) instead of your rear disk. Ha!
I was also riding a WR/250 in 1999 Great bike. I found the power very rideable. I also had a WER sticker, Thanks for that memory Kelly. 99 was the last year i rode the ISDE.
Yep, mellow yet powerful motor, longer range 6 speed, soft suspension, wide comfy seat, reliable as a rock. the 99 and my 94 are actually my two favorite WR based bikes ever. The 02 was a real close second and I had that bike way dialed. Pix?
Thank's for sharing --Going to dig up some of my old Photos---and --get all depressed ----or wet my pants laughing at myself--- Cool picture
I remember a race last August at Glen Helen... in fact I think it was the one that Robertaccio came up for...11:00 a.m.Sunday Morning.... 107 degrees at the Glen.... one of the guys watering the track with fire hoses during the race decided I needed a good hosing down.... felt like getting hit by a brick wall but damn it felt good to be cooled down... I'm sure I had a faster lap times because of it ! T
