Living on the edge with the new TE630. Ascending Imogene pass with the route covered in a snow drift and having to ride slowly up the edge of a VERY STEEP drop.. Some hikers had summited ahead of us. Now how to get down?
I think I would still prefer a bit of snow to a lightning festival going over Imogene. Some great views going up from the Telluride side.
Cool roads, nice scenery. Why do all those go-pro's click like that? Here's one from my DV trip last weekend. We got snow flurries at 7,000' that day:
Yes,, that clicking puzzled me.. This was loaned to us for the trip and this was the first time we used it. I had it zip tied to my helmet visor because we didn't get allot of the mounting equipment on the friend loan program. I've got a few more videos of getting down off the summit through the snow that required us to clear 300 yards of 1' to 2' feet of snow depth off an edge, pack it down by foot and then have 4 people positioned around the bike to get through it without slipping off the edge. Wasn't sure if we were going to make it or not.. Not what we were expecting.
Beautiful picture - trying to get my bearings on where you took it from. Looks like Panamint Valley looking NW, but that road down there confuses me a bit. Looks like you're looking down at the curves coming up to the west out of Panamint and looking to the SE.....tough to nail down! Probably looking down Saline Valley from Lippincott Mine Rd. Looking forward to DV again, the weekend of the Adv get-together I was in TorC, NM riding with friends and couldn't make it. Maybe Thanksgiving week again this year. Last Thanksgiving we ran into snow on Hunter Mtn Rd, but it's north facing and shaded.
Panamint Valley looking SE, from the overlook above Panamint Springs Resort. Rainbow Canyon maybe? We were on our way back on 190 after getting snowed and rained on on Hunter Mountain. Ride report here with a link to all 71 pics I took: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17303498&postcount=643 There are a few ADVr's that will be out there T'sgiving. I have a group going out to Spangler Hills near Ridgecrest for trailbike riding. I do want to go out as soon as possible again though. We wanted to get a feel for road conditions driving a dually pickup out South Pass to Saline hot springs. Early next year we want to organize a ride-in with dualsports and bring the truck with everybody's camp gear, gas, chairs, coolers, etc. and ride out from there. BTW, it's not problem driving in there, just really rocky and bumpy, would be slow going. 'Nother teaser pic...Osborne Cabin off Nadeau Road, Panamint Valley.
Glad running into you guys in DV before leaving. We did get up to Hunter Cabin and there was a small 10 yard section that had some unmelted snow otherwise it was dry up there. The weather was perfect. See ya next time.
