Gassin' up for some twisty fun today and a guy walks by my sm450r and looked helplessly bewildered. Eventually said he didn't know Husqvarna made motorcycles. You see, around here if it's not a cruiser, Harley or sportbike it's an alien Again, gassed up on my way home and another guy asked me if the cops mess with me. I kinda laughed and said I'm street legal dude. Gas stations are the only place I stop and where I ride there are more critters than cars.
This post is very timely! I was getting ready to post separately before seeing this. Today I was riding my '11 TE 449 on the street and stopped to get gas. While I was filling up, some dude comes up to my bike and stares at it for about 30 seconds... then blurts out... "Where did you get the Husqvarana stickers to put on your bike?". I was stunned and didn't quite know what to say at first. Then I told him it was really a Husqvarna and it was made in Italy and BMW.... yadda yadda yadda... regurgitating the same old story I've been telling for the past 4 years.
I’ve been stopped twice in the last three months by guys in their late forties that saw me riding, turned around and followed me to my next stop to ask me where can they get a bike like mine So I've talked to them only to realized they didn’t necessarily meant a husky, which they did not knew make anything but lawnmowers (I rectified that... ), but a supermoto bike They did say the 610 looked incredibly good
It's not unusual for someone to mention to me that they didn't know BMW made motorcycles when I'm out riding one of my beemers... BMW made motorcycles (first one in 1923... WITH a shaft drive) before they made cars.
A gas station is the worst place to take a Husky. You get asked the dumbest questions and looked at like your form another planet. And yes, most people have no idea BMW makes motorcycles.
Or just say, Husqvarna and Harley Davidson both made their first motorcycles in 1903... That might give the average person a turn.
i bought my husky used, out of state. bringing it in state (RI), it has to have a VIN check by local police. officier came out, looked and said he thought husky only made weedwackers...
Funny thing is, it’s not even the same Husqvarna company... --> Husqvarna AB The question to all you husky aficionados is; did y’all knew we are now venturing into the food market...?
I wondered the same thing, but never researched it. Someone at work left a Husqvarna catalog in the shop and NOT a single motorcycle anywhere in there. The name is recognizable, but people relate it to power equipment. First Lowe's tool line, now tomato's.
It can be a pain once in awhile ,but I also like some of the comments I get on how good looking the bikes are. The last time my son and I stopped by McD's for lunch ,we watched car after car go by while we were eating ,to stare at our bikes. Did kinda get worried tho when 2 cars with kids and what may have been fathers, get out and look them over. Had to get up from the meal to make sure nothing was being taken ...all was good, tho.Talked one of the fellows for over a half hour(went back inside and shared a meal and a Husky brochure (always keep several in truck just in case!).
