  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Opinions on parts for TE310R Supermoto conversion

SiberianHusky

Husqvarna
C Class
Hello all again,

I'm still in love with my new TE310R as I've written a few times before in the forums. So now a question just for fun. When I bought my new Red head I did so thinking that she would be a brilliant supermoto conversion for the winter. I've never done this myself so I'd like input in how to do so (sizes, etc.). What is your recipe for a supermoto? Names of manufacturers and prices would be appreciated if you have them, also I would welcome you simply giving my your day-dream list. Thanks all.

Here's what I think I need. Wheels, front brakes, rotors. I've heard you can get good tyres that fit right on the stock rims but I'm not sure.

As far as wheels (if I were dreaming) it would be alpina or Marchesni. They are both tubeless but are both over 2k lol
Warp 9's are the budget friendly wheels and are supposed to have great customer service.
Excel's are in between as far as price.

These guys know Supermoto. I'd give them a call.

The sportsman classes are the ones where you fit street tires to stock rims. It's a cheap way to see if you even like it. The "standard" tire sizes are important which is part of the reason I'd give them a call. One rim size seems more for street tires and one is for street.

Think "small rear spocket" or "short trips"

I am running a 47 rear, to putt around town (25-35 speed limit) and small tracks, 42 for big tracks. 65mph @ 7500 rpm for short periods. This bike with the 47 loves to rip around the single lane paved/ Privet dirt
roads in the Santa Cruz Mountains....

So how did you come your choice in wheel size?...is there a choice in wheel size?

Click on the link. Fronts are 17x3.5, rears are 17x4.25.

I have a Warp 9 set from Motostrano on my 610. Quality is good, reliability is good, price is good. I will not do business with them again, but they did eventually make the major problems right, and they're sort of the only game in town.

The 5" rear wheel is better for supermoto racing. More options for tires too. 4.25 will limit you in tire width. Usually anything bigger than 150 will rub the chain

So if I were to buy a 5" rim I could still only use 150 width tires? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of getting a wider rim? Also why do all the kits I see online seem to recomend 4.25"? Is that the recommended width for most conversions?

Honestly, on your 310, and for non-racing use, I wouldn't worry about it too much, just do the 4.25" rear and run whatever rear tire they recommend.

No doubt, especially if you're looking for race tires. It sounds like he's just going to ride it for fun, so I figure get a 4.25, throw a Conti SM on there, and ride.

Yeah it is just for fun. I'm not set on anything at all I just wanted to know what the difference it would make. Anywho looks like I'll be buying a 4.25" set, what do you all think about brakes? Should they be replaced or is the stock good enough?
